1. Limit Search To:
* All of Microsoft Teams
* All Chats
* Only chats including [select input]
* All Teams
* Only Team(s) [select]
* All channels in a team
* Only channel(s) [select]
The search function is currently very poorly received across our area because it is just a massive search string.
I would like the ability to restrict a search by Team and/or Channel and/or Individual
In order to have a more targeted search result
So that I can more quickly and efficiently find the correct result.
Additionally - searching in User Feedback Forums is sub-optimal. It would be great to be able to sort by votes to see if there are already dozens (or hundreds or thousands) of votes for an idea. Right now I see hundreds of 'search options' results. And I'm pretty sure they're almost all duplicates.
Thank you for your feedback! Contextual search within a specific chat or channel, filter options for messages, files and people are all available in the product today.

The search features in Teams is abysmal. If you don't know the first few letters of the search item, it finds nothing.
Wildcards do nothing.
Partial string search does nothing.
Search within Tasks, Planner, Files... nope.
How was this VITAL feature overlooked?
Please quickly add this functionality. We are literally getting seasick scrolling back and forth through hundreds of chats.
I am so frustrated wasting my time not able to find answers to my TEAM CHAT questions . This is as bad as outlook mail as a way to organize information. Its like the sharepoint nightmare, the sequel. Does no one at microsoft ever need to go back and look at past information or are y'all so forward thinking that any answers to problem from yesterday as so passe that a functional search engine is not of any value?
Seriously, with the incredible time delay on our servers with microsoft, the scrolling looking for a past chat lurches like a boat in rough weather and I literally get motion sick.
Please fix the search engine to be useful and restricted to the chat we are in. I do not need 200 plus chat entries when I search for my name because of ALL the chats I am involved in.
If this is too many word to get the message across, than I am being microsoft. Too much software for not enough function.

This is a really missing feature.
Let me put it in my words:
We cannot search for a string or key word in one particular chat.
We are forced to scroll and scroll up, otherwise MS Teams will search everywhere for this string.
And, this function should be accessible with Ctrl-F as it is everwhere else the case.
you can do search within a channel or chat when you are in it press ctrl + f and the find function wil apply to the chat or channel.
Also many of your desired filtering options are already in place inside the search. As soon as you start the search you can filter by message, people, files, apply mor filters to them like channel or chat, apply a date range when it was posted by whom etc.
Add to this Search by specific date range that you enter From-To

Wholeheartedly support this! This would make Teams into a usable product for us!
I would like to search for my or other person's posts, across teams/channels or limit to specific team/channel.
Optionally, add a filter feature within a channel's posts tab (person posting, date range, keywords)

Overall search feature in Teams is a complete joke ! Really need this functionality to search in a specific conversation / group

Build a 'Search' for key topics or an important chat from past / chat history.
* search by time range (last day, week, month, year, custom range)
