Worst engineering I have ever seen. How can you not allow access to Microsoft 365 Outlook contacts in the Teams app. INSANE!!!!

I can tell you that the big up and coming competitor of Microsoft for telephany ZOOM has that feature. It is a 1 time setup and boom all my contacts in O365 sync seamlessly to the ZOOM interface. This is a critical component to an unified communications platform.
Without it...DOA -

The fact that there is no integration of a global address book / contact list / phone book or what you may call it, makes it almost impossible to use as a softphone. We have several thousand customer contacts without a possibility to choose them from teams or to find out the caller's name on an incoming call. What's the f*** is wrong with you MS?

I really don't understand Microsoft any more, they uses to care about the small businesses, IE 3-10 users. You drop BCM, telling us the small business guys every thing will move on office 365 (lier).
We left a great system setup using are internal exchange server, after reviewing are needs with Microsoft, tell us we would still be able to have quoting the things we need (one contact data file and e-mail history file, mass e-mail, job projecting, projecting, and away to manage our prospects, again (lier). Than you start, than you bring out customer manager as its replacement, that does work worth ****, you stop that and here comes Teams, but you can't use Teams as a team. WHY CAN"T YOU JUST BRING BACK "BCM" and make everyone happy again??????? -

We cannot implement Teams Business Voice without this and will have to keep our Cisco server. We cannot have everyone manually managing a local Outlook contact list for our employees.

when migrating from any other PBX, there is always a central contacts list that needs to be migrated, why Teams does not have this, or even access to the GAL, does not make any sense.
we are trying to sell teams and the Phone System, and this is a question we are always asked by companies and organisations, small and large.

I really hope they will do something, as must of the people want this option

Ditto. It isn't intuitive for a user to go to Chat and see Contacts and the GAL not be searchable. That is one design aspect of S4B that is far superior.

During our evaluation of Office 365 and Teams we immediately found that creating and sharing a company-wide list of external contacts (email, phone, company, website, ...) seems to be missing for Teams. Looks like sync to teams only includes my personal contacts!?
Shared folders kinda work for Outlook (there are gaps there too).
Since Teams is moving into telephony, surely O365 customers will want the company's list of contact numbers of external contacts to be available to the calling app (Teams)?

These features are absolutely necessary for this product to part of the office suite. We used shared folders to hold all of our client contacts and our CRM works this way. Teams can't be a successful product if it only connects to the local default contacts folder.
