Desktop sharing should allow a certain, definable area of the screen to be shared, for example the left half, the right third, the first quarter at the top left, and so on.
I work with a large screen and high resolution at my workplace. Other team users use smaller screens with lower resolutions. Accordingly, you can't see things so well on my shared screen. Releasing just a single application, on the other hand, is too little, because you would always have to laboriously change the released application. So it would be easier to share half or 2/3 of your screen and know that all you have to do is move the windows there.

I have a 5k2k screen. Full screen sharing is no more option due the pitiful viewers.
Sharing only one window shows a poor performance of the presenter...
I guess more and mor people get screens with high resolution.
MS, speed up!

Both GoToMeeting and Zoom have a feature that allows the presenter (person sharing the screen) to only share part of the screen. I'm not talking about sharing only one screen in a multi-monitor setup, and I'm not talking about sharing a single application. I am talking about the ability to share just a portion of one monitor/screen.
This feature in GTM and Zoom is very important to us, as we have several users with 4K monitors, and this allows for two things:
1: the partial screen selection can be <= 1080p, which means no scaling or letter-boxing on the viewer's side.
2: it allows for the presenter to have apps or files or whatever outside of the view of the participants, and can bring things in and out of view at will.
This missing feature is the one thing that is preventing my organization from moving from G Suite + GoToMeeting to Microsoft 365 and Teams.
