Enable Participant ID Feature (Prevent One User Dialing in via Phone AND Joining via Computer Audio) ECHO ECHO ECHO
Microsoft Teams is lacking one major feature which make it's use extremely limiting.
Today in the email invite for a meeting there is an audio conferencing number in addition to a "Join Microsoft Teams Meeting" link.
The average user sees the phone number and first dials in, then they click on the link. When they click on the link, becuase they're already dialed in, they just click Join. The default setting is the microphone on the PC is left turned on.
When they join, that one user now shows two "Seats" in the meeting. Their name for the application joined user and their phone number for the dialed in user.
This creates an echo effect that wastes time needing to explain to users how to mute their PC etc.
Other systems like Goto Meeting, Zoom and Ring all have the concept of a participant ID. Each user is provided a unique number that if dialing in they enter it which will then "join" their application "Seat" with their phone dialed "seat" and thus preventing audio echo.
This MUST be introduced for teams... please!
We would also like to see the concept of a participant/attendee id/code. Similar to how Zoom or Go-to-Meeting works.
To implement, this would require some change to Join Now screen when the user clicks the "Phone audio" option. After clicking "Phone audio" and then clicking ""Dial in manually", it show a participant ID that is unique to that meeting and unique to that user. They could use that ID to merge their PC session and phone session when the call in from their office phone.
