Rename call in participant
Is there a way to rename a call in user in MS Teams meetings, e.g, if you have someone come in via phone only and you want to associate a name with the phone number. In other conferencing apps you can rename a call in user.
A very simple but essential feature for productive and most importantly secure meetings.

This is badly needed. Should be easy if the Org uses Active Directory integrated where phone number is already provided.
While creating training materials for our organization, I had 10 participants call in to the meeting. Of those participants, I had one name display despite being a call in user. I thought perhaps it was because it was my sister and she was in my contacts. However, I quickly ruled that out since I had my daughter call in and her name did not.
Where is the name pulled?

Come on Microsoft! Such a simple thing to add - the ability to name participants, but without it makes for real painful meetings when going around the room for comments. Can people put the numbers they dial in on into their profile so the system can pick them up?
It's odd that in our testing the call-in number asks for a caller to speak a name, but the producers and presenters never hear that name and it doesn't get associated with the phone # in the participant list. What's the purpose of recording a name then?
This is a much needed addition with Teams Meetings being used so frequently!

I'd be happy just renaming callers (including dial-out calls). It would be great if this name/number association could be cached for future calls. Another suggestion would be for Teams to read numbers from your Outlook contact list and automatically display the name associated with a phone number in your contacts.
This is needed. A lot of meeting productivity is lost asking who is phone number #### at the start of each meeting. These are vendors or newer users who don't have Teams or only have an analog phone to join the meeting.
This would also assist when MS Teams adds the functionality to print/ save attendees for meetings. It would be nice to have a name instead of the phone number.

Yes especially for producing a live event this is really needed.
I would suggest being able to add a static image for the caller as well. This way when that caller speaks you can put their picture up.
The ability to rename participants in general, whether they are on a phone or video is definitely a feature that I miss compared to competitors in this space.
Given the well publicized security issues with Zoom, you'd think Microsoft would provide this capability asap. More and more I see people being suspicious of unidentified phone callers on meetings. Everyone assumes Teams has security holes and wants to cut off phone users.
This is a glaring omission, but I guess the low number of votes here (I'd give 3x votes if I could) is an indicator to Microsoft that it's not that important to people. But, it is going to keep people using other meeting apps rather than adopting Teams.
Where is this feature?
Again you lose to Zoom!
This is crippling MS Teams

This is really necessary. Many other conferencing software platforms offer this option. It's impossible to tell participants apart simply by phone number.

Please add this. It is highly needed for helping to organize meetings.

Absolutely an essential feature when Project Managing and conducting calls with multiple hospital facilities along with their other vendors who are also part of the meeting. Makes referring to an attendee during the call a lot easier for all who are participating.
PLEASE - this is really a monkey wrench!

This is a much needed enhancement. We do most of our work via phone meetings and knowing who is on the call and who is speaking is a must.
