Allow users to customize away presence timeout
Allow users to customize away presence timeout like the options in the Skype client. Add: Show me inactive when my computer has been idle for this many minutes. Also Add: Change my status from inactive to Away after this many minutes.
The team is currently planning for this work, we will share an update as soon as one is available.
(I apologize for the prior incorrect update – it was intended for https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/admin/v3/ideas/16958344)

This feature exists in Skype but not Teams. Agreed - just because I have something on my calendar doesn’t mean I’m busy or unavailable in Teams.

Get very frustrated with teams as it times out after seconds of inactivity when using multiple sessions in tabs... really annoying and wastes time
What would you set it to? 7 minutes, 13 minutes, 999 minutes?
I personally think <15 minutes is rational and reasonable. However when you have someone who abuses the system and sets that to 999 and is constantly gone, but appears to be "available" actively working or to answer inquiries, then that's when it runs afoul of consideration for co-workers.

I have noticed this issues has been raised since 2018.When is Microsoft going to change this?

I would like the option to select how long I want to be inactive before Teams auto changes from "available" to "away". In my organization, some computers can go unlocked but inactive all night and Teams will show them as "available". While on mine, I might be in excel or another program but on my computer, and Team will show me as "away" after just minutes.

I agree. I put things on my calendar all the time for reminders or placeholders, but that doesn't mean that my presence in SfB or Teams should be changed to Busy.
totally agree with you

We need the power back to control when we are idle or away. Stop automating this after 5 minutes. This is very aggravating to an already stressful workday:
Yes, I agree this would be a nice feature for Microsoft Teams! If I am inactive for three minutes, my status will change to away which is quite annoying. Therefore, I would love to have this feature as I did when I had Skype for Business.

I have reminders in outlook, TEAMS shouldn't show me as busy or in a meeting. I want to choose when my presence says away, or busy or in a meeting.
Please can there be a setting to turn off automatic presence / status changes, and also allow the presence setting to stay the same if Teams is closed or reopened or the computer is restarted. It is very frustrating and disruptive to work that the presence can change automatically by itself
Totally agree. I'm often on my headset having long conversations with candidates. Teams should not show me 'idle' or 'away' when I'm actually working but just not on my computer.

It should be possible to set the idle timeout in minutes like in "Skype for Business".

The user needs to be able, in the Teams client, to better control their status. For instance, there is no way to control when and how the status changes based on different states the user may be in. For example, even though I am logged into Teams, using the desktop client, and the system is not locked, it still sets me to "Away". There is no control for this behavior and it is not welcome because I am in fact there and available.
Likewise, it should be able to tie into Exchange Online and see what my calendar looks like. It should know to change my status when I am in a scheduled meeting that was on my calendar in Exchange Online.
I should be able to set how and when the client changes my status from Available to Away and back. If I want, it should automatically set me to away when the computer is locked, and back to Available when it is unlocked and mouse or keyboard activity is detected.
BTW: Thank you for the "Dark" theme in the newest release. However, it should also have a "Black" theme that matches the theme in the other Office apps and Windows 10 itself.
Many thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

In status option like Skype for business we can't change the status idle time
1. show me inactive when the computer has been idle for this minutes
2. change the status from inactive to away after this many minutes
3. status has been changed from available to away in few minutes itself
