Allow users to customize away presence timeout
Allow users to customize away presence timeout like the options in the Skype client. Add: Show me inactive when my computer has been idle for this many minutes. Also Add: Change my status from inactive to Away after this many minutes.
The team is currently planning for this work, we will share an update as soon as one is available.
(I apologize for the prior incorrect update – it was intended for https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/admin/v3/ideas/16958344)

This seems like low hanging fruit. What is the delay??
Seems like Teams now switches the status to Away even while I'm working on my computer but just not actively using the Teams app. What gives?? Last thing anyone needs right now while a lot of people are working from home is for the boss to think that you're goofing off doing something else just because the status switched to Away even though you were working on your computer!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is so dumb that is doesnt work

This needs to be adjusted ASAP as i spend a lot of time off my PC and my colleages and team my think i'm not available for them to call.
Yes, this should have been there from Day 1! Thanks Microsoft, way to push a replacement app that doesn't include the basic features of what it is replacing....
Status control also needs some level of device configuration. (ie disable status checking on my phone)
I have Teams on my phone and it appears that background process will always keep me available even if my PC is off or sleeping. We have a Phone Plan and I need to get receive calls.
External users can not see status, so I do not want to penalize them, but all my colleagues think I work 24x7.
This should have been there from Day 1
This should offer the same functionality as Skype. If you are attempting to do away with Skype by replacing Skype with Teams, then simple things such as this should already have been integrated into Teams for a simple, user friendly transition.
Is MS working on fixing this?
Yes I don't want the program automatically setting me as away after the very short time it currently does. There is no way to configure/disable this timeout before it changes to away.
Every other chat type program has this as a configuration where you can enable/disable setting away after a certain time, with that time being selectable by the user.
agree, needs to be fixed.
We should be able to set inactive timing settings for this. I can be working in my emails or watching an ALN video and my Teams shows me as "away/inactive" - it's a false representation of the work we are doing.
Agree this should be included feature, with ability to control on the employee's part. Also, Teams isn't the only app we do work in! it should reflect our overall activity the same as Skype did.
This is ridiculous! Why aren't we allowed to set our own Active and Inactive timeout! I'm Available but using another app on my pc. Why would you show Away!

Agree. this is very important.
Agree - this should be implemented. Users should be able to choose how long before they appear inactive, currently this doesn't seem to exist.
I agree this needs fixed.

I agree, and this should be integrated with mobile presence. If I have my mobile device with me, I should be able to set my presence as Available indefinitely.
It's important when you are working with remote users for them to see you are available not 'away' just because you are talking to a colleague for a few minutes or on a conference call not in Microsoft Teams
Teams status changes to yellow (busy) when Teams is not the active window.
For example, if I'm in a web browser, the teams app changes status to Yellow (busy).
