Add an option to disable auto-adjusting mic level
When on the call the Teams will automatically adjust the mic sensitivity level. I want it to stay at the same level. It's really annoying as it picks up background sounds when not talking. Also, it doesn't readjust it after the call, so i.e. if I had set level 50% before the call the Teams will readjust it to 80% and it will stay at 80% after the call has ended. This forces me to keep manually adjusting the mic level. It's a minor thing, but really infuriating. Would be really great, to just have a checkbox to disable mic level adjusting.
Thank you for your continued feedback. The team has placed this item on their backlog. We will share an update as soon as one is available.
Applications should never adjust my system volume levels without my consent.
Teams must have a way to disable this auto-mic leveling immediately. This is insanely infuriating to have to go adjust my system mic level after being on a Teams call so that it can function for other applications.

I've had to revert to using my devices built in microphone, as it's now more consistent than my external USB microphone. The audio levels are impossible to control regardless of noise suppression levels in Microsoft Teams settings.
As a workaround for this issue, on macOS at least - you can use the Apple 'Audio MIDI Setup' utility to create a virtual device that includes the real device's mic and output - Teams cannot adjust the gain of the virtual device's mic.
still have it

How is it possible that a problem as serious as this is STILL unresolved?! I have a very good external USB mic and it is useless with Teams because the volume keeps dropping to barely audible levels. Microsoft, PLEASE, fix this!!
"The team has placed this item on their backlog". Really? Do 'the team' realize the kind of support overhead this causes? Just give an option to turn it off/on like other applications! Its not hard. I am sure you have techs proficient enough to implement, test and roll this out very quickly! PLEASE DO THIS.
Everyday is a pain with teams and my microphone it auto adjusts to 0db. I hate online calls since then. It has become a personal nightmare.
Teams app works ok on Android and even Linux!!!
There's no mic issues. Why can't MS do this on his own OS?
It uses at least 1GB of RAM. In our country, many people can not buy a cell phone with much more RAM than 1GB, optimize the software please.
This needs to be fixed ASAP. I purchased a dynamic USB microphone, connected it to my PC, and it sounds perfect at 70% gain. Every time I get on a Teams call, Teams will begin auto-adjusting it upwards until it hits 100%, blowing the ears off call members. I already went into Windows' Sound settings and disabled the option to allow apps to exclusively control the device, but Teams overrides this setting. This is rendering the app unusable - please fix this MAJOR bug and provide an option to disable mic auto-adjustments!
Allow me to disable audio "fixes" and "enhancements." Give me control of my audio input into teams. I don't have any problems in zoom.
Come on, how hard can it be to add switch to disable auto adjustment of microphone. Send over a source code and I'll do it in 30 minutes flat. There's no way in the world that it's taking several months for you to add such a simple feature.

Adding my vote to this. My laptop mic and integrated webcam mics have been problematic picking up a lot of background noise. My home office is in my basement near the furnace so there is a lot of background noise I can not do anything about. I purchased a FIFINE cardioid mic that was working great then all of a sudden Teams started adjusting the volume to nearly 0 so nobody can hear me. HELP MICROSOFT!
Please sort this out Microsoft, it's driving me crazy with work video calls, and is ensuring I stick with Zoom for non-work. Workaround apparently is to install mixer software to comine audios into single feed, and select that in Teams, but really should not be necessary and not favoured by corporate IT!

This is outrageous. This long and still there's no way to disable this! The feature that auto adjusts the mic level is completely broken and does NOT function in a positive way, ever. Not only that, but the feature even BYPASSES the option in the computers control panel to block programs from messing with the mic. How?! How do you make feature that doesn't work, make it mandatory to the point where it bypasses settings on your computer and to top it all off, you don't add a way to disable it for months?! This is completely baffling to me.

It's incredibly annoying. I use teams for teaching, so I speak on and on for 30min or more before anyone interrupts me. Teams lowers mi mic volume (even though I disable the Allow Applications to take exclusive control of this device and disabled AGC) bit by until, some minutes later, I'm barely audible and I sound stuttered, I guess because the mic is not sensitive enough for me to sound OK with so low freaking volume. This happens with USB headset and with laptops internal mic. This feature needs to BE REMOVED or to be USER CONTROLLED.
Also, why can Teams do this even after I disabled this option directly in the Microphone Propperties on Settings?

Using an USB microphone in Teams on a MacBook Pro have become a nightmare. It might start up OK and the others can hear me without any problems, and then suddenly it drops to "hey we can´t hear you" on the other end. Happens on both one-to-one calls and in conference calls.
It started sometime last autumn after an Teams upgrade I think and I am still waiting for a fix.
I am using the Teams app on OSX. Latest Teams app (and always has been) and OSX 10.15.x with latest updates.
There must be some way to correct this "lets disable the microsoft without telling the user" bug....
it's suposed to be usable, not making everyone's in the room ears unusable after teams puts my mic level all the way up to 100% when i normally use my mic at 40% because it's LOUD, imagine boosting that by 60%.
this is a joke and i'm tired of having the sound parameters window open everyday i have to assist on my online classes.
2021 and still not fixed, please, it's just a fricking button that DISABLES A FEATURE.
they are very quite about it too, cmon, my mic is very sensitive and i have it tweked perfectly for me, but teams... takes a beautifull sounding mic at +0db and puts it all the way up to +36db making it a bomb for everyone's ears when i talk.
absolutelly intolerable, bad luck i'm forced to use this for school.
Teams adjusts my mic volume automatically to 0, so there is no way for me to speak.
