Add an option to disable auto-adjusting mic level
When on the call the Teams will automatically adjust the mic sensitivity level. I want it to stay at the same level. It's really annoying as it picks up background sounds when not talking. Also, it doesn't readjust it after the call, so i.e. if I had set level 50% before the call the Teams will readjust it to 80% and it will stay at 80% after the call has ended. This forces me to keep manually adjusting the mic level. It's a minor thing, but really infuriating. Would be really great, to just have a checkbox to disable mic level adjusting.
I have just bought a new $3000 computer and I am having this issue. Zoom works great but Teams takes control of my microphone to when it gets over the 80% level the other members on the Teams meeting say the echo generated by my computer (H.P Envy 32 all in one) is intollerable and I have to mute or continually lower thr volume.
The gentle soothing trickle of the filter on my aquarium next to my desk apparently sounds like a raging river to other users. It's amazing that 10 months past the OP the problem hasn't been rectified yet.

This is terrible....mic keeps going down to volume 25, Bluethooth mic seems to fix this, but this is absurd....
Problem is not on MS side but is due to a Chromium\Electron\WebRTC noise cancellation feature that Teams is build upon. Should be fixed when Teams is shifted to a bug free verson.
How can you have released a communications product without this option. Do you only test using cheap headsets? I use a studio quality Blue Yeti Nano and Teams constantly ups the mic gain to 100%. The noise of me moving my feet and typing deafens everyone in meetings. I have to keep the mic settings screen open throughout the meeting and manually drop the gain whenever I want to speak. WTF Microsoft!
This is exceptionally poor development for a communications product. Surely the issue surrounding mic levels should have been looked at and tested before you even begin to consider adding a video stream? If you can't talk, what are you supposed to do, write on piece of paper and show it to the camera?
It is absolutely astounding that Microsoft Teams has been in release for more than 3 years and yet this problem still persists. I supposed I shouldnt be surprised. Microsoft have been 'releasing' sub-standard, un-finished operating systems for decades.

Just tried a high-end USB mic today expecting to step-up my online presentation game...(already have certified Plantronics headset which is nice enough sounding - but "what a look"!
Plugged in RODE USB mic and ran a test call - result was terrible background noise levels - My keyboard sounds near killed me.
Gain was out the wazzoo....no problem...I'll just turn it down...
I head off every setting in Teams....hmmmmm nothing...
I turn it down in Windows during a team test call....no change....and it turns itself it right back up..(Teams is doing this???)
Do some searching online...and find this request...
No...wait... This is unbelievable.... This just can't be....really??? *sigh*
Has no-one in ALL of the Microsoft Team testing group ever tried to use a good USB mic??
This needs to be added as a feature as soon as possible. Answering a call with my Blue Yeti deafens all the participants and I have to go and quickly manually adjust it and keep the slider open on a second screen as it will adjust whilst im speaking way too often. As soon as i leave the call it's fine... why is this a thing, it ignores Window's settings about giving apps exclusive control!
Please allow to disable auto-adjusting mic level
Microphone sensitivity auto-adjustment misbehaves most of the time
reflecting negatively on quality of Teams App. Alternative conferencing
have much better handling. Your users want this !
This is an error/bug, should be fixed!
Became even worse after the last update of Teams!
As many other users have said, please add a way to manually adjust the sensetivitiy level of the microphone. 20 year old voice communication software has this option. so please act accordingly.
This is leaving the impression that Teams voice is second rate. Please provide some control over this.
MS, please get a grip and fix this issue.
What do we want? -- MANUAL OVERRIDE ON MICROPHONE VOLUME!
When do we want it? -- LAST YEAR!

Teams makes me sound like garbage on a high quality mic. Thanks MS.
"auto-adjusting mic level" is ok if I can at least set a "max auto" level to avoid over-amplified and distorted sound !!!
Far away from state-of-the-art :
The volume of my voice has limits, technology has limits, tools have limits, and Microsoft Teams is not able to handle them correctly: I just had a Microsoft Teams meeting during which we figured out that people don't have the control over the volume of their voice in this COMMUNICATION TOOL anymore, and sound is getting over-amplified and distorted.
The minimum requirement - or highest priority - for a COMMUNICATION TOOL should be to avoid just that, by giving people at least a basic possibility of influence.
Additionally 2 things are most annoying – Microsoft Teams is totally ignoring the "basic Windows-OS settings" "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in the Microphone Properties,
and – Microsoft Teams is totally ignoring its own settings (Settings - Permissions - Media ...)
What should and can we still rely on ??? - In all cases the volume is getting 100% - Why ?
Currently unable to use a quality USB microphone due to this.
Please let me as a user to choose mic level. Meeting situations differ, microphones differ, there is no point to force people to auto-adjusted level.
PLS FIX I AM GOING INSANE
This is insane. Please fix this as soon as possible!!!!
