Allow Channel Assignment After Meeting Creation
If a Teams Meeting is created via Outlook, there is no option to select a Channel to meet in. Additionally, if meeting is created within Teams and the Channel to meet in is not selected initially, it can not be added later. I would like the ability to add a Channel that I own to a Teams meeting that I created after the meeting is created. (This would address the issue whether the meeting is created in Outlook or Teams.)
This would be a very useful addition for our educational Teams.
The blocker here may be that channel meetings do not currently have feature parity with other Teams meetings.
Try to setup a whiteboard or poll for a meeting in advance of the meeting --
for a non-channel meeting you can do this easily, for a channel meeting it's not possible at the moment.
This is both confusing and frustrating.
My hope is that it's not intentional by design but due to some limiting factor under the hood and that we'd eventually see Microsoft fix this, though haven't seen anything on the roadmap or anywhere else to suggest that.
If anyone lands here, sees this and knows of more info related to any of above (roadmap or other uservoice suggestion), leaving a comment with link to more info would be much appreciated.
I really wish this would be addressed- it seems to be an ongoing issue for many and I'm surprised it hasn't been updated yet
I agree, but also recommend that you can also remove the channel from a meeting after the fact as this has caused permission issues for chat in meetings if you have invited "guest" participants to the meeting.
