Unify Chat and Teams Channels - Remove Constant Switching Tabs
Teams looks like two products ("Teams Channels" and "IM Chat") have been stuck together, yet not yet integrated. As only one Teams client window is supported, the design forces jumping constantly between lists of Chats or Channels.
Combining the two so that "Chats" is the activity space would greatly enhance the usability. The Teams Channels can be an unchanged tab, with right click option to "Add Channel to Chats".

iOS app has this - at least being able to pin channels to chat tab, and I thought this was available in desktop too. Where has this gone?

Another (higher voted) item exists that seems to be the same as this one:
Posting here so that anyone who finds this and votes on it also votes on the larger one.
Chat messages should definitely show up in the Activity list. Right now there is no way I can look at all chat messages and channel mentions/updates in one glance and just move from one to the other. Need this feature, please

Careful! That would make it look more like Slack! :D Seriously, though, having to switch back and forth between these two groups/tabs is one of the most annoying features of Teams. There's no good reason to keep them separate, and several good reasons to combine them.
I agree! The separation of channels and chats seems entirely pointless and counter-intuitive. They need to be housed in one place. I've missed so many messages because the notifications aren't configured to alert me to switch tabs - and I shouldn't have to.
