improve calls applet across platforms
Calls applet is awkward overall. Window 10 teams app has 4 main 'tabs' speed dial, contacts, history, voicemail, with a 'make a call' button. 'speed dial' should be 'dialer, with dialpad and pinned favorites and groups together. Make a call currently gets stuck open covering the tabs pane.
Android phone teams calls applet has 2 tabs, history and voicemail with a floating '+phone' icon (make a call) that opens a dialpad with a separate people search tab. Taking a queue from android phone app, it has 3 basic tabs across the bottom dialpad, history, contacts. Voicemail could be added, but since voicemail goes to email as an attachment it seems less important. Maybe adding it as a vm link in history would be efficient/compact. Favorite (speed dial) contacts appear at the top of the contacts list. Search contacts is in the contacts tab as well.
Teams on a Yealink T58 has the same awkwardness. Default is history, 'make a call' opens the search with only a dialer button on the top right. While I am all for a mobile phone experience on the desktop phone, this is not it. In-call you have to hit ...more to place a call on hold or transfer, trans sequentially then asks what kind of transfer. Certainly with a 7" touch screen you could present all available incall options on the screen and size buttons proportionately (the answer and reject buttons are tiny and close together). There does not seem to be speed dial favorites in this implementation. Again I would have the calls applet have the same dialer with pad and speed dials, history/recent, contacts with favorites. On the phone with this screen size, the applets should be like the windows app on the left side and the app tabs should be across the bottom.
Just my 2 cents. Very sad that I cannot move to teams as we are phone system users and cant use VVX's and need boss/admin and shared lines etc. Will watch for updates.
