Channel, with user group > Sub-channels, sub-user group
As a user, I want to select a set of people from the primary channel and provide only them access rights into the sub-channel.
I have Company X and I create a channel X. Under this company I could have Divisions e.g. Management, Finance, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, etc.
Those divisions are categorized as sub-channels. Sub-channels
are the divisions of the same company. For instance, when the sub-channel is defined as Sales, there could be 31/500 Account Managers from the full user group defined in the primary channel (Company X). Because specific topics and knowledge can sometimes be dedicated to 1 user-group, and not the whole organization (even if we strive for transparency).
It seems this has been declined before - but I would find it extremely useful to have Sub-Channels.
-> Account A
-> RFI 2
-> RFI 3
It would be really useful. Please consider this seriously as it looks like it's really needed. thanks
That's a needed feature in schools.
We need structure like:
School name --- Group--- classs.
Saint Gregory School--- 7-1 --- Science.
7-1 --- Math
7-1 --- Languaje.
7-2 --- Science
7-2 --- Math
7-2 --- Languaje.

I see this flagged in here multiple times and declined multiple times, clearly there is a need for this.

Yes, this would be a big help
Currently, I'm trying to create a Team for my account in the company and created Channels for each team in the account. IT would be great if I could add a sub-channel under the teams for specific functions they have for their team. This would reduce the number of Teams I create and that would be less clutter on the left panel.

Actually, I would like the channels to have its own set of users: I sometimes create a channel for a specific project under my team which involves other people than just the people on my team (e.g. I have an engineering team but I have a project that involved product management). Currently, the only way to do that is to create an entire separate team or open document permissions on Sharepoint. The document sharing solves the document access but it doesn't allow access to the other tabs of the channel like the conversation or the wiki.
