Why is There no global Contactlist yet?

This is tuning out to be a massive pain point for our Teams roll-out. Some of our users see this as a regression of our phone system's capability and it's not doing Microsoft or our team any favours! This is considered basic functionality for a phone system. Where is the global address book?

Still no Global Contacts in Teams. Outlook contacts are available, auto sync for individuals but not global

I have gotten an answer from the MS Support just yesterday (level 4,5 Productmanagement). The global Contactlist is coming in one of the next versions. I asked about the date we will get it - no answer...
