Teams Rooms running on a Raspberry Pi 4
Like a cut-down Surface Hub just for Teams and very economic for small businesses and businesses with lots of meeting rooms. For meeting rooms that have an existing TV in the room which people usually plug in an HDMI cable, just hide a Raspberry Pi behind the TV running Windows 10 and Teams Rooms.

This would be very useful, especially since small LCD touch screen displays for the Pi are so cheap as well and could serve as the UI. I've tried to hack a room system together on a NUC/BRIX using a third party touch screen panel and it never works due to some lock-in around the touch panel that the room system image is expecting. I can see why Microsoft would be adverse to non-certified hardware solutions though, as it could damage the reputation of the platform as a whole.

Would be especially helpful in times of covid19 with staying at home and keeping in contact with family / elderly people. Ideally it would be a solution which directly boots in TEAMS and updates automatically so non tech people can run it easily after installation

It would be an amazing option for mobile carts and portable systems for realtime collaboration. It might even open up new use cases for Teams clients where a desktop/laptop is too bulky and holding a phone isn't a viable option.

Windows 10 IoT is great on single board computers, please create and maintain a forked image of Windows 10 IoT built specifically to be a teams room Video display.
Also add a room controller app for iOS and Android similar to how Zoom's Zoom room controller app works. -

And why not extend it to other device like a regular pc modified for it

@Ian sir the Crestron UC engines for Teams are indeed running on Win10 iot and have been for years.

Unfortunately, even windows iot is not capable enough to run teams. While teams runs on non arm based linux systems, it won't run on the PI as of yet.

Very good idea if this dream can be true

Especially as service provider it would be great to be able to run different webcon systems over one device.

The fancy and expensive hardware ($3,000+) is great for purpose-built meeting rooms, but a low-cost alternative (< $150) for a personal office that is occasionally used for a group call would be welcome. Currently considering a low-cost Android device with the Teams android app installed, since it has built in microphones and speaker, but something a little more robust might be nice, such as a Raspberry Pi-based solution.

I am sure your small business teams who find themselves as entry level office 365 subscribers would love this sort of support until they can afford the more capable systems.
