Allow draft chats to persist in the "recent" nav bar on the left.
When drafting a new chat and then navigating away from it (e.g., to respond to an incoming chat) the draft chat does not show on the recent listing of chats. One has to re-enter the person to which you are sending the chat to retrieve the draft.

Yes. It would be ideal to see an indicator in each respective chat in the left panel notifying users that a draft has been written.

In MS Outlook there is a useful draft folder for unfinished e-mails, and any easy to manage indication is necessary in MS Teams, too, in order not to lose track of important, but still unsent messages. Everything else can be very embarrassing for the sender and could cause strongly reduced productivity only by accident, and this must be avoided.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add this to the Teams functionality! At least a couple times a week I open a chat from someone and see an old draft reply I started to write but then forgot about due to other incoming chats, etc. When I start a chat with someone I've never chatted with before, it moves it to the top of the list on the left with a "draft" indication. However for someone I've chatted with in the past, drafts are not indicated, there is absolutely no where to go to see what still remains incomplete or unsent. This is maddening!!!!

My drafts are deleted if I navigate away from the chat with a user. Is there a way to keep the drafts?

Building on this, Slack allows you the option to show drafts (messages that haven't been sent) in the chat panel. Example: Pinned, Drafts, Recent

This is a very annoying behaviour - just look at how it's done in Skype.
