Fix unnecessary activation of discrete GPU on MacBook Pro again
Fix unnecessary activation of discrete GPU on MacBook Pro again. Seems to be regression on version 1.2.00.13765
The team has made a fix, and we are in the final testing phase. I hope to have good news for you soon!

It's happening on macOS Catalina Beta 4.
- "You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.2.00.13765. It was last updated on 6/3/19."
I updated to 1.2.00.17856 today and this is still a problem with the update.
Same issue here on Mojave 10.14.4 2018 Macbook Pro w/Touch Bar
Was wondering why battery and energy usage was up. Seems they fixed this back in 2017 but has come back. Please fix!

Please fix this!
This is a no go when working on battery.
Yep, same problem here. Can't use teams if I'm on battery.

Just got a brand new 2019 MBP and wondering why my battery was constantly draining so fast compared to my 2015 MBP....Turned off discrete graphics in chrome only to find Teams to be using it by design....this needs to be fixed soon!

happening here as well!
Please look at this. It's draining my battery all the time; only lasts half as long with Teams running.

+1 the same happens on my machine on Teams 1.2.00.13765
Teams is meant to be on all the time especially because of chat feature.
But I constantly have to turn it off because I feel like it is hoggin my battery.
Is it absolutely necessary to use discrete GPU?
Doesn't it work fine on devices without discrete GPU?
This was fixed in 2017 and the problem is back.
I am sick of running electron apps, and pretty much avoid any app that is electron based. Teams is a necessity because its essential for work. For its high CPU usage and being a resource hog, I avoid using it as much as I can.
This issue pretty much makes it unusable and I have to quit the app once I am done with it, so it doesn't drive my battery down.
I hope you release a Catalyst app.
This was supposedly fixed (https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17743315-fix-unnecessary-activation-of-discrete-gpu-on-macb) but there must have been a regression, I can confirm it's an issue in Teams 1.2.00.13765, which means I can't use Teams if it's 30°C or warmer in the office.
You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.2.00.13765. It was last updated on 2019/06/21.
Same thing, discrete GPU is activated as soon as I start Teams.

Agree'd, this is happening to me as well on this version with no way to disable it
Running MacOS Mojave 10.14.5
Teams version 1.2.00.13765
I see this was a bug a couple of years ago and I'm wondering if it has returned. I am able to terminate the high performance process as a workaround but the discrete GPU should not be required to run Teams.
