Sorry, I'm not going to scan through 1800+ ideas on status settings, but it would be ideal for there to be some kind of settings option for a person's status. For example, "show your status as Away when you lock your computer"
This is not a bug, MS is using this to let your boss spy on your activity in work...
MS devs would not be this stupid to simply forget about such functionality
We should be allowed to choose to set "available" status for a specified time. I may be doing something that's not on the computer but am still available for calls and chats. Please remove the automatic change to "away" status.

I agree. And I must can define which of my computers / devices should show my status. Eg. Laptop and PC in offfice are allowed to set status, but my phone not. So show as available when I am logged on one of the selected machines.
As it is now Peapse see me green most time because on one of my private devices teams may be active. I would like to show in Teams only my "In Office status": Else people can know that even when shown as absence they can try to call me on a private device. Whre I will decide if I will take it oer not when I am not "In Office" .

and expose the status settings via powershell
Status changes to away in every 5-10 minutes if no keyboard activity even though I am watching some videos and sessions. It is really irritating and frustrating. Please remove this auto change and provide manual settings so that we can update status as per our requirements.

Horribly annoying that I'm seemingly always available when logged in on my phone.
Customizing status would be helpful. Ability to show Presenting or Sharing Screen status is needed

Microsoft Team: Is there any update on this frustrating setting update? I see comments about it for over 2 years being something users want. My company just transitions from Skype (that DID have this functionality) to Teams and it is frustrating that the system changes my status whenever I'm not typing into Teams.
Please make an option for each user to set their status manually, not for Teams to automatically change to "away". There have been many time my teammates think I'm not working based on this status changing constantly.
Teams needs to provide more flexibility for the user to decide when to change status. Teams must not change the status automatically to "AWAY". User needs to do it manually.
Agreed. And the time it takes to log into TEAMS takes longer than it ever did for SKYPE. it appears to be more of a web-based functioning tool versus local. And it SUCKS!!!! Yes, it's a chore to continuously wait longer times for TEAMS to log you in, then you have to continuously change the status to your desired setting. ANNOYED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MS must just have some weird ideas about how people perceive the Status of their contacts. No other way to explain how they can ignore the requests for better control of how your status changes.
As posted in other areas also .. AND there needs to be an option for users to DISABLE **ANY** type of "auto do this setting".
I don't begrudge you that want this ... but *I* for one .. do not .. Teams changes settings based on outlook calendar ..
so a meeting can come up .. you haven't replied to the meeting and Teams sees this on your calendar and automatically takes action. I haven't replied to the positive, negative, or other .. yet teams thinks it should set me "busy".
There is also the issue with manually setting DND or other status in teams, and you come back to find your status has changed..
user control must be paramount regardless of the "auto" settings requests. A user *MUST* have the option to fully control their status.
100%, and one of the things I miss about Skype. It would be great to be able to set my status without having teams control it for me. In the time it took me to write this comment teams put me on away??
totally agree. Sometimes reading materials takes more than 5 min, and the status just changed to "away" without me realizing it, while I'm clearly still at my desk! Not worker-friendly at all.
Completely agree with the other posters. I have to open the teams window to get my status to change back to available after it auto-changes it to away. I also found that if I set my status to "busy" because I am on a call but still in front of my computer, it auto changes my status to away after a few minutes of inactivity. I want people to know that while I may be busy, I'm still working and haven't left for the day.
Totally agree. Teams needs to provide more flexibility for the user to decide when to change status. I work on two different desktops and it's very annoying that Teams automatically changes my status from available to away when I haven't clicked on Team's desktop in a certain timeframe.
I find it odd that Teams does not have a status setting of "Off Work" like Skype for Business had.
This seems like a no-brainer. As already mentioned, this was a much appreciated basic function in Skype for Business. I'm getting really frustrated with the my status going into "away" mode when I'm still clearly working on my computer. I have to then go in to Teams to reset my status. I would like to have the option of setting a time period when Teams shows my status as "Away". For example, when my computer sits idle for 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, etc mins, show my status as "Away". Why is this feature not an option in Teams? It's not as if Teams tracks my activity accurately anyway.

Agree - I work at a company that uses web-ex meetings in outlook and is rolling out Microsoft teams. Teams currently sets your status indicator to "busy" when it recognizes you are in a meeting, but it would be nice if Microsoft created an option in settings somewhere that people can have their status automatically set to DND when it recognizes you are in a meeting as opposed to a busy indicator. This would of course be optional and the default for a meeting indicator would be to go to “busy”, but for people who would rather remember to change their status off of DND to busy as opposed to change from busy to DND, it would give them the option to manually update that in settings. I have been a part of multiple meetings where people forget they are sharing their screen in web-ex and notifications from chats pop-up.
Yes it would be nice to be able to create custom statuses and set rules like when you are inactive for a duration that it sets it to away. Also would be nice to be able to set show as offline.
