Allow Starting Multiple 1:1 Conversations with the Same User
Our company previously used an in-house IM tool that allowed starting multiple conversations with the same user. This allowed us to have long-running 1:1 chats (e.g. between a manager and a direct report) that were expected to stay private. However, for discussing one-off technical issues, etc. we would often start a separate chat, which either person might add someone else to in order to get a question answered, or in general get work done.
The ability to start multiple conversations with the same user would:
* Allow organizing conversations by topic
* Allow separating private conversations from conversations others might need to be added to
This would help make https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/33295264-add-person-to-private-chat-with-chat-history-optio easier to implement from a privacy standpoint.
Equally helpful would be the ability to delete a conversation (1:1 or group) that has outlived its usefulness.

Tried the work-around but Teams did not allow kicking out the extra persons from the chat....

Work-around for now: create a new chat with 2 people... name the chat whatever you want, and then kick-out the 2nd person you don't want to be in there. Tada!
