Full width chat
On desktop, chat takes up only the center of available field. Woiuld be much better use of space, if the chat was full width

I would add not only the "full width chat" but also the ability to have People and Chat windows opened in the same time.

So where are we, now?
Is this feature on a publicly available roadmap? It really makes it impossible to read technical conversations containing log files, code and the like.
It's just painful.

To whom it may concern at Microsoft. Can you allow us to resize the chat area to FULL SIZE? Also allow us to PASTE CODE and make it look pretty like MATTERS MOST DOES. This is basic features that would benefit everyone who uses MS TEAMS in 2021. Thank you so much for your help.

please have a setup for use, allow set the specific width, or {Narrow (as-is), full width}
or importantly, it's ok to keep narrow for text. I understand narrow could allow us read message at a glance, need not left left and right / back and fore. But for image, please use whole width in default

Yea! Coders don't use 1024 pixels wide screens anymore. Please fill the space available.

This is Microsoft, what do you expect? One big hack... Never wanted to work for them, never will!

sending formatted code is horrible when the chat screen is not full width. You get about 100 chars which is painfully short for powershell code, but even more so on ultra wide monitors.

This is so anoying, I have an attached log file for which I see the timestamps and class names, but the log text is outside of the chat field.

Yes this is very annoying. Its not a website presenting known content, its a chat program where you don't know the content, so the safe bet is to not squeeze it.

This is just a dumb waste of space. If you're not going to scale the chat, why even allow resizing the window? Please allow conversation width to size with window. This is a REQUIREMENT for any technical conversation. If you wrap in in a code block with ``` it does give a horizontal scroll bar, but not become any wider.
You don't have to compare this to any other chat/messaging designs to see the clear idiocy of this design choice.

I'm sure many people love it when 2/3rds of their screen is whitespace and the code snippet we're sharing has a left-right scrollbar to enable us to see the whole line(s) of code. But perhaps we can at least have an option to use the full width of the screen if we desire?

It's great to know I'm not the only one out there who considers this a problem!

+1 - this is one of the main things I hear complaints about in the switch from Slack..

Absolutely, wrapping at an arbitrary width when everyone has a wide aspect screen?

How can there only be 42 votes on this? The limited width is horrible. Pleas fix asap!

Not only the chat space, also the input field and the formatting options should extend to max width.

Really annoying when using code snippets too. Fortran 80 character line width limit seems reminicent...
