Teams chat history export feature
It would be good that Teams chat history can automatically be saved into Outlook folder like Conversation history (Skype does). I'm not sure if this feature still available in Teams, or we can have a way to export the chat to a file or something.
Just had the same problem - had a long conversation with a lot of technical detail and now need to inform someone else about the conversation (as it happens it was a conversation about a OneDrive issue!) - and cannot work out how to send them the conversation.

Our organization just flipped from Skype For Business to Teams. I am constantly using the Outlook search feature to find old conversations so to forward if necessary. This seems like such a basic business requirement. The fact this was completely ignored is outstanding in my opinion.
This would be a good feature so that project specific chats could be stored with other project data for record keeping processes.
I would not recommend to store it in outlook like it was with Skpye. Search in teams is much more better then it was in Skype.
But the export is important because you can easily set up chat groups.
Export is important for Chat groups. e.g. you discuss an adhoc topic and you want know to keep it with other records and put a retention on it. Discussion in a chat group can be seen as evidence for a decision documented
Use Case 1: We have a small improvement initiative. To set up an own Teams for it is to much overhead. I set up a chat group with all members of this improvement initiative. We do collaboration in this chat group. After closing I want to extract the chat historie and store it together with other documents related to the initiative
Use Case 2: I have set up a team meeting/workshop. Team is discussing and commenting in the chat for this meeting. After the meeting I want to store the chat content together with the other documents of the meeting.
I need to export the Chat session to users - we can not be chatting and note important information on chats and not be able to export it

Will be greate that Teams saves the conversation history in Outlook but if is not possible to be enable to select all conversation and allow Copy & Paste in other Chat, Ms. Word, Notepad or mail in Outlook.
The inability to export chat history is completely ridiculous and frustrating. MSN Messenger already solved this problem 20 years ago but somehow the engineers at Microsoft continue to make things worse every day. See also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC-0tCy4P1U

This would be really helpful to enable the chat during a Teams meeting to be exported to the minutes or saved as a list of actions to follow up.
I don't understand why we are going backward in terms of the chat history feature. Everything else is a bit better than Skype so far but the chat history is something users should be able to easily retrieve w/o going through multiple steps.
Is there really no way to save out a chat, surely thats an oversight. Thi was extremely handy feature being able to save from Skype Conversations History in Outlook. Technical discussions which need to be saved to change managment processes/documentation would be a key area where this is a must. This is a must please bring into Teams

Yes please. Ready-made export feature for Chats, Posts.

I have a technical discussion with someone I'd like to save... and I can't? Really?
So Teams isn't a serious tool and I shouldn't be using it for serious things?

This is a must, to somehow be able to export the chat somewhere, even manually.
I agree, we should have access to our own info. Why should a user be required to contact their IT dept. to get their own messages? This is something I thought was taken care of and shouldn't have ever changed. All I expect is a way to sort messages similar to Outlook or Skype. According to Microsoft Tech net people, the data is already saved in an "conversations history/teams chat" folder within Outlook, but hidden so we cannot see it. Whats the rationale with this? Come on Microsoft, you are better than this policy.

I am not sure what the rationale was behind turning off or hiding the conversation history folder for Teams but we need it restored to how it was for Skype. A lot of the teams rely on this folder when they need to refer back to chats about specific cases for compliance and legal reasons.
This feature should absolutely be implemented. It doesn't make sense that we lost this feature after upgrading from Skype for Business.

I agree. We depend upon Outlook as our universal container for communications within and outside our organization. Skype for Business chats show up in Conversation History. Teams chats in which I participate need to be viewable inside outlook too - by dates and with the filters we are used to.
