Flag message for follow-up and automatically add them to to to-do
Currently each message has:
* save
* thumbsup
* Mark as unread
* Copy link
* Immersive Reader
options available in the upper-right corner. I'd suggest adding another.
Please could you add a "flag for follow-up" option. Clicking it should add it to a list of flagged messages that are exposed somewhere within Teams however the real value would come from giving us the option to have the message appear in Microsoft To-Do, thus the experience would be exactly the same as adding flagged messages from Outlook (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/using-microsoft-to-do-with-flagged-email-f90c37b0-4453-4756-a6d5-e2ef8d33b395). When someone marks the task in To-Do as complete then it would unflag the message in Teams (again, exactly the same as the Outlook experience).

Please implement this idea!

This would be extremely useful, especially if one could tag the follow ups with the same flags we use in Outlook. This would allow people to create specific Task views for specific situations.

Absolute must! Feels completely alien without.

There is a good solution, but I agree that having a flag feature as in Outlook would also be very helpful. The solution is to install a Planner Tab in each of your Teams. Then within the Planner Tab you can keep a running checklist of open assignments and give assignments to one or more members of each team. It allows for comments, notations, etc. It is very useful and easy to use. I have just started doing so myself and am new to Teams but have used Outlook for many, many years. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-planner-in-microsoft-teams-62798a9f-e8f7-4722-a700-27dd28a06ee0

I would love an ability to flag something in Teams that needs my attention at a later time. I use the flag feature in outlook all the time for this purpose. I know there is the ability to save something in Teams, but that requires more clicks, and I don't want to have to browse everything that I have saved, because I have saved some things for future reference (like a website bookmark). Having to scan through reference bookmarks to decipher what requires action would really hinder my productivity. I'm imagining something like a "flags" button on the left sidebar by the chat, teams, calendar, calls, etc that pulls up things I have flagged. That would be quite helpful for me!

It is necessary to be able to add task for the message, not just for me, but being able to assign a task to somebody else from the team as well!

Having the ability to flag a conversation in Teams for follow up would be very helpful. I am trying to utilize Teams more than email then I find I am forgetting things because I cannot flag for follow up.

Even if it just showed a Flag in the chat navigation bar so I remembered that I needed to check something would be good enough for me. But also adding into Outlook would be great

I agree. I use Flags in Outlook to quickly add E-mails to my to-do list so I don't forget to take action on them. Having the ability to do the same in Teams would be terrific!

completely agree -- until a follow up flag capability is added to chats in teams -- i will stick with outlook as all too often the other person does not respond and the need to be prodded. I 100% rely on outlook tasks on email threads to remind me that the response has not occurred.

Really? You need to be told this is a "MUST HAVE"?

The to-do item is not super necesarry in my opinion. The main function that is similar to flagging an email in outlook is something that would be super beneficial though

Without this feature, there is no follow-up on chats. This is a critical feature in my opinion.

This proposed feature is critical for the success in our [hopeful] transition to MS Teams.

A solid chunk of my organization has asked for this, and as we've transitioned to Teams with working remote 100%, it's something they're really missing from email. This (or a way to easily use individual messages as Power Automate triggers) would be really helpful.

This would be great to be able to keep tabs of whether the person has responded to your message. So easy to forget when you're busy to check if they have.

Desperately needed. The more people get on board with Teams, the less workable it becomes to keep track of all the messages. It can be hard to go back to the important ones with no way to flag or pin them. Flagging doesn't group by team/channel so isn't much help.
