Start a new conversation with a button/link, reply with the chat textbox.
I have often accidentally started a new conversation when I wanted to simply continue a thread. The default should be a textbox continuing the conversation, with a button/link for new conversation, not a button for "Reply" and a textbox to start a new conversation.

So many duplicates of this request.
Yes, single biggest pain point for moving users to Teams.
Even I still find myself accidentally typing into the new conversation box because the tiny reply link has scrolled off screen. Mobile versions do it right.

So many times coworkers are starting new conversations instead of replying to the thread we are discussing which leads to difficulty linking those one off messages that are not attached to the original conversation. I think that if the start new conversation were off to the side in like a little bubble that you literally need to click on to expand and see all of the edit options/emoji/etc would help to alleviate this issue. For example how the Join a team has a little symbol in front of it. A different symbol could be used and once you click it then it would open the text box to start a new conversation.
Actually, it looks like this is a dupe of: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/19224826-better-visual-delineation-between-reply-and-sta
@Kevin Hill. That's what I want to see. Is that a setting I've missed or a mock-up?
Nearly all our channels consist of replies as new conversations. I'd like to see it easier to distinguish the difference as well as the default being to reply.
