Delete Meeting Conversations in Chat
Hi,
I don't want to keep meeting conversation times and history in chats tab. Please create Delete option. This shouldn't be saved at all. It is pretty silly to have a hide button instead of a Delete but you have delete button to delete the text in the conversation? I can also see security issues with this.
Please add Delete soon in chat for meeting conversation. Otherwise, advise on how to get rid of these saved meeting conversations. The hide option is not helpful.
Thanks

Please add Delete. You are creating more work for us because of records retention. I will no longer use chat if it can't be deleted. I was really liking the functionality of Teams until I realized I can't clean it out and delete the chats. It's so messy. I thought the whole idea was to not have as much email retention to manage. Now it's better to use a 3rd party than the software our office already purchases.

I agree. Even just for cleaning up the many video conferencing tests that you make. I have plenty when I was just rolling out Teams. Recently, I had 10 such tests while working on the custom screen backgrounds. The Chat tab is littered with "Meeting Ended" posts, a number of which are just 1 minute long and only involving me.

I've recorded a conference call, and cause the upload to stream failed I can not delete it. Frankly, I would expect more from Microsoft. You can delete it only if it worked well. huh?

One easy way around all this, I found, is to create a new channel within the team and have your corralled chats and meets there - that prevents the clutter in your main chatline. Later you can delete the channel if you want - that deals with the privacy issue. Having said that, the ability to delete anything, anywhere would be helpful!

Essential for schools

Agreed, it is essential to schools not to see other chatconversations. At least a deletebutton

Problem is that privacy is breached if you don't delete the chats. It's hard this way to flexibly use the meeting when different participants can see things that weren't relevant for them. Please delete instead of just hiding or anything else.

This is needed badly, I have been using teams for weeks now and I need to be able to delete, NOT just hide my chats. There is many times where there is sensitive messages on here that need to go bye bye permanently.

It's ridiculous that you create a casual function like chat and don't allow people to delete. It gets confusing and limits the ability to have confidential conversations.

I teach young students and having to see all our old meetings/chats on the wall creates clutter that confuses them. They often reply to an old meeting chat long after a meeting ended, causing that old meeting to move down to the bottom of the feed as though it is currently relevant. This buries the current important content students need to see when they come to the wall, causing me to have to continually bump it. Then they get confused between the old meeting and upcoming ones because they are young and don't read the dates and details, etc. I had to create a class rule that once a meeting has ended, we are not allowed to post in that chat anymore, and even made a separate channel for "friend chat" to allow them a space for socializing, but they are young and forget. This is very annoying as a primary teacher.

We need to delete the chats. There can be bullying when teachers are not connected and we cannot avoid it. It wil be yor responsability because I am not able to delete the class chat while I'm not connected, so everything can happen in there.
We'll ask the government to cancel all the licenses. -

We really need this feature as soon as possible. It should be within the meeting organizer's ability to delete the entire chat after a meeting is completed. Otherwise, in some instances, we won't be able to use the chat and then Teams seems like a less desirable video conference meeting tool.

to the community - since Team owners can purge channels, would hosting your meetings in channels give you the ability to delete the chat stream after the meeting has ended?

Please prioritize the ability to permanently delete the chat. Chat is often extremely useful during a meeting, but for a range of reasons, including confidentiality and legal reasons, the chat stream may need to be deleted after the meeting. The meeting organizer should have the ability to do so. Without the ability to use and then delete chat, we have begun to look for an alternative platform to conduct some of our most important and sensitive meetings.
