When creating a new appointment in Outlook, if you change the show as: from Busy to Free, Microsoft Teams and other chat platforms will show you as available. I have been using the Outlook Calendar for years and this works just fine. I've used this with Microsoft Lync, Cisco Jabber, and Microsoft Teams and I get the same result.

Users and/or Administrators should be able to choose if the teams status is bound / attached to calendar events in Outlook. This definitely needs to be configurable.

Make this happen

Please make this happen! I am constantly dealing with my availability in Teams changing to busy and it is terribly frustrating!

This is a must-have!!! I do not understand why Teams does not offer the flexibility provided in Skype. Definitely a giant step backward in my opinion. There are so many things that make Teams a huge disappointment to me and those I work with.

Agreed. I'm constantly displayed as busy when I'm not, all related to calendar entries.

Definitely a must have. Seems like a pretty easy thing to implement.

It would be great if the user was able to control whether this updated automatically based on their outlook calendar and also if they are on a call or not in teams or skype for business.

PLEASE provide a fix to un-sync our Availability Status in Teams from our Outlook Calendars. This is ridiculous, I have "appts" booked all day in my calendar to keep organized for work - it doesn't mean I'm "busy" and can't accept Team Messages!?

We need this! As admins we book meetings for other people and have to send the invites from our calendar so our calendars always looks busy which means we always look not available on Teams and have to constantly remember to keep changing our status to available throughout the day. Skype for Business allowed this, really should have been part of the teams roll out too.

This is displaying incorrect information. While working on another PC, my account switches to "Away". Please look into this and allow the user to control the setting. I'm sure this is a concern not only for employees in which this makes us look bad, but delays the flow of information in a company.
Needs immediate attention. -

at the very least, an admin should be able to control this setting for O365 users.

Is there any update to this? Given the amount of requests to grant users the choice to sync their status with Outlook calendar, I'm surprised Microsoft has not issued an update, or even a response. Please help!

Why make status selection an option in Teams if, when you click it, it has no effect? It should at least be marked as disabled.

Please can you make it a user choice if the 'Status' should be linked to the calendar. Thanks
