Pasting a large amount of text in Teams message makes program extremely slow and there is no easy way to clear it
I accidently posted a SQL execution plan into teams chat. Normally, it would be no big deal, ctrl-a and hit backspace. With this very large amount of data that caused teams to crash. So, then, I tried to select a small portion of the text and if I select a small enough amount, I can delete with out it crashing, but I accidently pasted in a LOT of text. There is no way to quickly clear it out. So, I tried to quit teams open it back up and it still remembers the text. Kill the teams process, open it back up and it still remembers the text. I've literally written this entire thing in the time I've been waiting for teams to delete a hundred or so lines of text from the chat window. Then, I need to do that another hundred or so times and it causes very high CPU usage while that is happening so I can't do work. This is probably going to prevent me from doing an hour or two of work.
Please, either stop teams from eating the processor when working with a large amount of text, prevent a user from pasting in an excessive amount of text, or provide a button to clear the whole thing out so they don't get stuck in a vicious cycle and have to waste hours of their day.
I have the same problem and do not know how to get rid of it.
Yeah, this is pretty ridiculous that Teams handles it this way. I mean, obviously I shouldn't have pasted a 2000 line output from a console into Teams - but Teams should abandon the message entirely instead of attempting to save it and continuously crashing every time you try to go back to that thread.
- I past a ridiculously large text copy from somewhere (which of course my clipboard manages JUST FINE)
- Teams crashes because it can't handle large text files (and do wahtever else it's doing to the entire text block
- I am unable to ever return to the thread where I pasted that text because Teams attempts to save it and then format it again
this old but still a problem. I accidentally pasted over 100k lines of text data. Now clearing it is taking forever and crashes the teams app. On right click can you have an option to clear all text or select all. I feel dumb for doing this but shocked there is no way to reset this text box.
