Request to implement presence privacy mode
I would request to implement presence privacy mode in Microsoft Teams same as Skype for Business.
Because I would like to prevent junior employees from seeing executive/senior members’ presence information when they search staff information.

In my view, publishing the presence state to external contacts without explicit user consent most probably violates against European data privacy regulations (GDPR)
Besides the legal side of the issue, we would highly appreciate the following features:
- a tenant-wide default configuration for the publication of the presence state (on / off / contacts only) --> managed by admins
- a user default configuration for for the publication of the presence state (on / off / contacts only) --> managed by the user
- the possiblity to override the default configuration on the level of an individualt contact (on for external contacts A, C, and D; all others off per default) --> managed by the user. -

For external groups i must have the feature to disable visibility of my status. Unbelievable that this is not possible at present.

Teams is a great tool, and having external users be able to share in the experience is great, but Admins and/or local must be able to limit that access - including presence status.
I agree that having external users knowing your presence is a breach of confidentiality as stated in other threads, and quite possibly security. This feature is an absolute must.
It's a shame that there are so many similar threads on this subject - combine them in to one and it's a powerful statement we are making.
Thank you.

I concur. While it is important that colleagues within my organization be able to see my status, I would like to disable this for external parties to my organization, who do not need to be able to see my status.

Please add the function to hide or limit presence from users who are outside of the organization. Anyone with our email address in Teams can see our user status.

Now everyone is being forced to move to Teams. About time sales staff had some privacy from their customers.

I have execs at our organization that are requesting this feature as well, any idea when we might see this?

March 2020 now and Presence privacy mode is still not implemented. Anyone know if there is any timeframe?

This feature is especially important for the German market. Here there are workers' councils that can completely stop the rollout of teams if such functions are not available.

Please add. I am surprised that existing skype features have not been ported to teams. Skype has the feature to stop sharing presence information to people outside your contact list. This is also a privacy violation because regulations see this as a form of “supervision” as well!

It is very helpful to not get constant interruptions when in the middle of a project or when there is an excessive amount of tickets to be processed

Having DND would assist with being able to work on a project without being interrupted. This would allow me to focus on the task at hand and would assist with avoiding human error.

There are times when I am working on reports or audits and cannot be disturbed for a specific period of time. However, I do not want to look as if I'm away or offline. Having the DND feature would be great.
