Guest user in Shifts
Would like to add guest users in Shifts as they work alongside other team members.
Due to other priorities, this has been moved to the backlog. We will update you as we evaluate in the future.
Hi Engineering Team,
Our Account Strategist has encouraged me to post this to UserVoice.
We are the largest health research organization in North America, and have a number of medical resident rotations to manage across our programs. Some of our programs have successfully adopted Teams, and want to use MS Shifts within Teams for their resident's rotation schedules.
The issue is that our medical residents don't have a corporate email account when they receive their initial rotations (due to complexities that cannot be overcome at this time), so it would be ideal if Shifts could be accessible to these residents as Guests - similar to their Guest Access to MS Teams.
Enabling residents' access to Shifts would replace a Word doc that they've been using to manually manage rotations/time off/academic half-days. Shifts also allows more than 1 admin/lead to manage changes to that schedule, and gets updates out in real-time to all of the residents. Furthermore, the mobile-ready, integrated Shifts UI with colour-coding makes it really easy for everyone to use - not only ensuring that rotations aren't missed, but also helping residents to maximize their time on rotation when there are changes.
Please bump up "Guest User Access in Shifts" on the roadmap. For the work effort required, it would have an immense benefit to organizations like ours; especially at this difficult time.

We have many volunteers that could take advantage of this app, too expensive to have to give them all MS accounts. Please make this a priority.
This feature will help us making steps forward in the future

I agree with all the other comments. I don't understand how this hasn't been moved out of the backlog and made a priority since COVID when so many people are now remote. Emailing schedules and request for shift changes back and forth is inefficient.
Hello 'Teams Engineering' Team from the UK,
Could you possibly please provide an update to the many questions below regarding allowing Guest users to be assigned a schedule in the brilliant 'Shifts' app?
We are all waiting with baited breath - as we all would find this feature very useful - especially at the moment. I enjoy using the Teams Environment and I don't want to be forced to use another app and pay someone else for their software, when this feature could be added.
Thank you for your time, I hope you are all keeping safe...

Please can you give an update on the status of this request?

Can this be brought out of the backlog? I'm curious why this is on the backlog when it seems like such a simple change.
Covid 19 has resulted in a reduction of permanent full time staff across many industries and an increase in the labour force obtaining casual rostered roles. This functionality would help businesses trying to support the community through gainful employment in whichever capacity they can currently offer. By not having this feature open to guests, businesses would find the process of rostering too time consuming in an already overburdened and taxing time and might possibly prevent the hire of people. This is an important feature to assist businesses and individuals alike contributing to the nations economic recovery.
Allowing guest access to shifts would be a huge support for our organization. Many of our guests work in collaboration with our staff and it is crucial that all members of a team can see the availability and access to this app. We are now having to create a redundant system for staff and guests that makes the processes clunky and time-consuming.
Please put guests access to Shifts on the front burner. As many, many others have said, this feature is essential to deployment. As a GCC customer we've already been waiting for Shifts for years, only to have deployment yet again derailed by the lack of guest access.
We need this functionality. As it is essential for first line workers
yes, this would be great. We are a nonprofit and this is exactly what is needed for volunteers and 1099 workers.
right now, we must give a full account only for the purpose of displaying them on a shift calendar and allowing them to select open shifts.
Useless without enabling it for guests. As a step solution, guest to be included in the schedule, while not being able to use the app. They may receive a manual pdf copy of the schedule.

I really need this function, too

I have front line contractors but without guest access this app is useless to me. Like everyone else having guest be able to be on shifts will help us all out. This needs to be a priority

This would be great and very helpful feature to our organisation. we hope it is possible to add it very soon, fully understanding that you have other priorities at the moment. Thank you.
