Allow setting a shift as recurring with beginning and end dates
Thank you for your feedback! We are hard at work improving the Shifts app experience including adding recurring shifts. In the meantime, we wanted to share some tips and tricks to help with some pain-points mentioned:
1) Make Edits to Your Schedule (Delete, Undo, Minor Copy Edits): Shifts works similarly to Excel in certain regards, so make sure to highlight shifts with your mouse and utilize keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Z) to copy, delete, or undo actions. We find it helpful doing this particularly in month view and week view.
2) Copy Button: Use the copy button on the top right to copy any timeframe you need for the entire schedule.
3) Search for Shifts in Creation Phase: When creating a shift, utilize the search command to find shifts that have already been created in the past.
We’ll keep you posted when we have more news!
recurring shifts will make a huge difference in user uptake. please add! thanks!
Any update on when recurring shifts will be added? Thanks :)
Please re-evaluatie the ‘try this instead’ tag after given feedback. At least set it it ‘thinking about it’
We are trying to move away from an excel kind of workflow and more like outlook (recurring items have been there since the previous century)
Any movement on this feature being added any time soon? I schedule everything from 1 day trips to 21 day trips and need to move entire trips to other people's schedules on a frequent basis as I tetris our client's requests into our staff's schedules. Moving a 21 day shift one square at a time is not going to work. Also, it would be nice to see it all joined together and actually be able to read what the text says.
Not sure if this solution will work for everyone needs, but this seems to be the answer(works for me).
Assign shift to employees, with working days only from Monday to Friday. Copy the pattern from this month to next month.
Copy the set schedule I have for this month(referring to the shift from Monday to Friday, not from 1st until the end of month). DO NOTE that copying from 1st until end of month to destination date of 1st of next month will results in scheduled got copied to the same date. Example Nov 5th to Dec 5th.
"2) Copy Button: Use the copy button on the top right to copy any timeframe you need for the entire schedule." as mentioned from the Admin's reply.
Using November 2020 as example,
Click on "Copy Schedule", fill in parameter Start Date as Nov 2nd 2020 (first Monday as reference), and End Date as Sunday 29th (last Sunday as reference, completing it as 4 week shifts). Set Destination Date as Nov 30th 2020, Copy as many time as you need.
This should answer the question on how to make a "recurring shift".

We use Shifts for a rotating weekly tech support assignment. Currently I have to export/import via Excel to set up rotating shifts and this is very tedious when what we really need is a simple recurring shift feature.
MS Shifts ..... the f is just for fun.
AnnDee4444 says it all.
This is not an acceptable solution. How is this supposed to work in an office where everybody works 8-5, every day, every week, every month, all year long? Are we seriously supposed to copy and paste the shift for every working day in a year x every employee?
Our team of 60 people would really benefit from this feature.
Looking forward to seeing this feature soon
Any update on this? It will be SO helpful!
Has there been any development on this feature?
This seems like it should be a basic feature. Any update?

Copy-past is extreamly time-intensive when trying to set up recurring week-long on call shifts.
Same issue as Adrian back in May
Went to work on the staff schedule and in the month of November and December, the system has duplicated hundreds of request see attached video. I am not able to delete them all please help.
Adding recurring would be something that would be super useful to have.
The ability to copy Open Shifts (i.e., for signing up for a week of shifts) would be helpful. It looks like I'd have to create an Open shift (3 per day) for each day of the week.
I assume that marking this idea as "Try this Instead" means there is no actual plan to introduce this feature. The only conclusion that can be drawn from this is that MS is not interested in pursuing shifts as an actual useable app.
Week long shifts would be helpful for rostering an on-call roster. We run 3 week long re-occuring rosters. Would be nice to be able to drop someone into their week not 7 individual days.
When pasting , say 3 shifts, to an open time slot, Shifts pastes the 1st shift to the open schedule and the 2 others to the group members below. I understand this behaves like Excel, but pasting weeks-worth of Shifts should be feasible without having to redo all the schedule by hand every week ...
