I want to access Teams content while able to "appear offline"
This is a feature request regarding the presence capability versus other offline features that want to use Teams while disconnected.
This feature allows
People to do work at off hours without being interrupted.
People to look or retrieve content which has no concept of presence.
For those concerned about abuse of an appear offline feature and enabling presence liars, users can still lie and set any of the current presence states with the same intention.
I can be connected to the network and use Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, etc. and do MY work without worrying about interruptions.
Appear offline is now available on Desktop/Web and iOS. It will be available later this month on Android. To learn more, please visit https://support.microsoft.com/office/change-your-status-in-teams-ce36ed14-6bc9-4775-a33e-6629ba4ff78e.
When either clicking Quit on Teams or shutting down at the end of a work day, Teams should show a status of Offline. It currently leaves me as available and people will continue to message me when I am off for the day thinking I am available and causes confusion and frustration on both ends. When clicking Quit in Teams or shutting down the computer, it should set status as Offline.
Appear offline or just offline is a must have feature in order to Teams become a valid communication tool in office environments. I am always receiving messages im my mobile inside teams does not matter the time or day, the result is that I had to uninstall it from my mobile, but now I still receiving this messages 24 x 7 in my e-mail because people are able to send to me using PC app and after some time these mesgaes come to my e-mail. Horrible experience.
I work in a service desk environment with various teams (no pun intended).
There is a XYZ team led by one member. This member does not like to work.
Each time we submit a ticket to his team he sends us a message on Teams that is very degrading, insulting, toxic, acts like he does not want to work but wants us to do it instead (so he says we did not trouble shoot good enough). It's a pattern not just with me, but with the entire team and we all talk about it
Our conversation always turns to "Can we make ourselves invisible to that one user" So it falls in line with this thread. I agree with the post that got all the votes. It is a must feature. I would also like to make it a target feature where we can target users and mark them as "Can not see when I am online"

This is an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE FEATURE. And I want to go one step further: another MUST HAVE is to be able to set different statuses on different DEVICES. E.g. : I want to appear online ONLY when on my PC. I want to keep Teams running on my phone, but I DEFINITELY don't want to appear online when ONLY on phone, but not in front of my PC. And I don't want to remember changing my status back and forth manually 50 times a day when I leave my computer or get back in front of it.

2 years gone and nothing happens - we would also like this function
Please add "Appear offline" option like Skype for Business and also add dial pad to dial any other number apart from directory.
I want to know how to appear offline
yes agree. Pls have this feature imported from skype to MS teams

Most of my files that I need to work with are in Teams. But if I work early in the morning or in the evening, I don't want people trying to chat or call me. Appearing Away and DND don't work. Appear offline is a very much needed feature.
When Iam in online, then also why this showing offline to my friends team group?

Is there any way to appear offline to only one user? I keep getting called by a specific user that I do not want to answer but need to appear online for other work calls.
I can't stand when others contact me in Teams when I am online. Why?? There is a reason I am not signed in. I want to use Teams on my terms and not to feel pressured to sign in just to respond to someone's message that is not a priority or of importance to respond to ASAP. Users should have the flexibility to turn the contact me when offline feature on or off or set their status to appear offline as it works for them without feeling hunted with nowhere to hide. Others often ignore "do not disturb" or "busy" status. There is always an expectation to respond. Yay, Microsoft! Go promoting work-life balance!
We also need a feature that sets status AUTOMATICALLY to "off work" outside normal office hours (selectable). Like others I am sure I sometimes work a earlier or later than the normal office hours, but I do not want others then to go and contact me.At the moment I need to do this manually and keep forgetting to switch it back. It would be much easier if I could set the hours in the system then I want to appear Available and what I want to see when it is "out of hours".
Ikkkkk this is rlly necessary!!

I have students who are trying to call me on weekends and late at night. I am available 8-6pm but need some boundaries too. I have many staff who are experiencing the same challenge.
"Appear offline" or "invisible" needs to be added as a status option.
Please include this as an option - I am sure if it is available on Skype, it can be replicated on Teams.
+1 Setting your status to away is not always enough. Setting to 'invisible' is preferred to allow the monitoring of a channel without being disrupted.
Absolutely! Thanks to Covid-19 I'm working from home like many of us. When the kids are asleep, I usually work 2 or 3 hours to catch up with business. If I don't watch my status, Teams sets to available as soon as I start my session. And many people do not hesitate to start a chat at 10PM as soon as they see you're available. For those, instant messaging is instant messaging and they use the company Teams for smalltalk like with WhatsApp. They make no difference. And that is a real problem if you just want to get to work.
So: please make an option available that enables configurable off-time status. Like "set to unavailable from 6PM to 8AM" That would be of great service! Thanks.

This needs to be an option if you use the mobile client. At least the desktop application, I can close it out completely. That's not an option on mobile. Even when I kill the task on mobile, others still see me as away. My only option is to sign out of mobile, then have to sign back in using the authenticator app. Not very convenient.
