Import Shifts schedule from Excel/CSV
Shifts already has export schedule in UI. It would be great to have a option to import schedule as well, so it could be prepared in a external (legacy) system and then easily imported using UI, without need to develop code for upcoming Graph API.
This would also make possible to create a shift "template" that could be easily uploaded to new Shifts / groups.
We’re excited to announce that we now support importing a schedule from Excel into Shifts. Just follow the steps in the documentation here: https://support.office.com/article/get-started-in-shifts-5f3e30d8-1821-4904-be26-c3cd25a497d6.

What filename did you use for the spreadsheet?
Same problem as Himanshu Soni - I downloaded the sample template, filled it in carefully as per instructions and get the message "Some people weren't added to the schedule in Shifts. Please try again."
- Fixed - the issue was that one of the people I had entered onto the spreadsheet hadn't been added as a member of the team. Once I added them, I was able to upload the completed sample template.

There needs to be a way with the import feature to import "open shifts". This way a schedule can be built, uploaded and shifts that are not filled can be filled by those on the team.

The download of sample template finally works. I updated all fields as needed. During import I get the error: "Some people weren't added to the schedule in Shifts. Please try again." Tried various combinations of data format for each field.
I really would like to avoid adding 70 people manually in the Schedule, and that too 1 by 1 (Shifts doesn't allow typing multiple email addresses or even lookup multiple names for an add operation) ! And all this effort AFTER already adding them 1 by 1 to the Team membership !!! Ugh
@Kyle Kelly - we are experiencing the same thing. Our IT dept are letting Microsoft know directly, so if I get a response/solution, I will let you know.

We'd really value an import of open shifts and groups. Use case is allocation of support to academic labs. We could take the modules and timetabled sessions directly into Shifts and then allocate the support students and staff accordingly. Thanks.

When I import the schedule I have created using the template i get the error
"We found a few problems
Please download the file and fix the fields marked in red. Then try importing again." But the download file icon does nothing. Any ideas?
Here is the sample file. Anyone have advice on how to get it to work? I keep getting errors and I've followed the instructions very carefully...
Same issue here, I cannot download the import sample, can someone here share the sample import file.
The import sample can't be downloaded. Please provide the a download link for the sample.
Is it possible to include Groups in a Shifts export to Excel/CSV?
If yes, how?
For whatever reason, the template document won't download. Is anyone able to upload it here please?

Yay! I agree, it would be nice to have the same fields as export and be able to upload open schedules. This is a huge step though!

This feature is implemented now!
You can’t import the excel files you export because they use different standard fields.

It appears, as of today, that there is now an import feature in Shifts.
When you select "Import Schedule from Excel" from the menu, it prompts you to download a template to fill in.
I've had a play around with it and it seems very limited in it's functionality. The work email address for each line to import is a required field (which is then used to assign the shift to a person), so therefore you cannot upload a schedule of open shifts.
Is there plans to be able to upload a bunch of open shifts to then be assigned to people or staff to request?

I've created an Excel template and would love to be able to import this Excel so I do not have to re-write all of my work in Teams. Would this be possible? If not now, in the future?

@Claus The release date on Microsoft 365 Roadmap said it was "rolling out" and the date listed was July 2019. Now that July came and went, it is listed as Q3 2019 :-( Really waiting on this feature.
