Shifts - Let non owner manage shifts
Only team members with owner role are able to manage shifts.
Would be helpfull to define shifts manager seperate from their team role.
Shifts are also assigned by supervisors, which are only team member and assigning owner role is not desired.
I completely agree! Shifts should have the ability to let the user choose their approver before submitting their request - even if this is not the owner. So we can nominate who approvers are.
We are also trying to use Shifts as a holiday planning tool, but the limitations to the Member role is preventing us from doing this. We have managed to overcome this, by appointing all members of our Team channel to Owners. This is not elegant, but it is an effective workaround.
Again, I must support the notion, that the inability for members to manage their own shifts, are really not in line with a modern workplace.
Agreeing with many of those here. This feature is useless without this option. Very frustrating and has put me in a precarious situation.
I can only join all the Complaints about the serious dysfunctionality of MS Teams due to the lack of employees empowerment in MS Teams Shift-Module.
This says it all!
"We need to have a possibility for the team members to change shifts with each other, without any manager approving. As it is now this is much more work for the manager than it should be, they have enough to do anyway."

I am trying to use Shifts as a vacation calendar but I do not want to have people to submit their requests as they are using the HR application for approvals and such. I just need to give visibility to the team when a member is out on holiday. Unfortunately today there is no way to do that without the approval via Shifts
Is there any update on this? This would be the perfect tool to allow employees to sign up for work slots, especially when an upper limit for on-site employees is very important, as it currently is during the pandemic. Not allowing employees to sign up for shifts themselves is the single thing stopping us from using Shifts as an integrated part of teams. Why not just add a toggle option for the manager: "allow non-managers to sign up for shifts" ?
Making all employees Team admins is obviously not the appropriate solution.
Any news about when Shifts - Let non owner manage shifts ?

Another vote for people being able to edit their own shifts if this has been allowed by the manager.
Shifts needs to have a function where people can amend their own schedules, especially as managers are empowering their teams. Shifts or Planner are not fit for majority of today's work place practices.
Shifts is useless to me if non owners cannot edit a shift. So that said, now that I have it, how do I delete it?? I see documentation that says to go to Teams Admin page..... don't see that either.
Can we just change the membership
setting to owner for the time being until we get an edit fix on this?

I hope Microsoft Team developers can modify the settings to give employees edit their own shift activities, so that the managers can see what they were doing in the shift time.
Also it can be used instead of daily report
With everyone working from home, we want team members to be able to put in the shift that they are working rather than having one person scheduled shifts. That way the entire team can easily see when people are working. A little tweak would make this such a valuable tool.

would be important for non-owner to edit shifts. We need this function urgently. Thanks

This is critical - we want to use this to manage levels of staff in our labs to reduce numbers to limit chances of spread of the coronavirus. They all need to be able to edit their own shifts. Please implement urgently. Many thanks.

Planned for over 1 year now. Seriously. This would take about 1h of coding to implement.
surely this could just be a setting in the app which is something along the lines of "Allow all staff to edit shifts" ??
Can't be that hard to implement....
This need fixing. It has the potential to be a great asset, but i need to be able to delegate out its management.
Come on Microsoft we need this fixed as we can't roll out Shifts without an option to give employees access to edit their own shifts. This should at least be an option in Settings for the schedule! This is a show stopper to us using the tool!
