Shifts - Let non owner manage shifts
Only team members with owner role are able to manage shifts.
Would be helpfull to define shifts manager seperate from their team role.
Shifts are also assigned by supervisors, which are only team member and assigning owner role is not desired.
Please enable non-owners to use Shifts. We don't have any owners on Teams because owners can share files via SharePoint outside of team membership which breaks our data access management and review model.
What is the ETA on this addition to the program?
We have multiple supervisors in our department and need the ability to each be able to approve leave for our operators.
Agree... Shifts would be more widely used in different types of orgs IF team members could add their OWN SHIFTS and see their colleagues'.
As it is now, Shifts is useless for us too :(
When will it be possible for non-team owners to accept requests?
Shifts are useless for a scientific lab. We need a team calendar in which each team member can adjust shifts. As it is, it is not very helfpul.

It would be nice to remove a Shifts Schedule for a team, where one was added, that isn't needed.
If there is several shift group in TEAMS, is this possible to set different member to manage different group of shift? It will induce some security problem if the authorisation is based the member right in the particular teams

Planned AKA never going to happen.
Allowing all users to see the shift schedule would be ideal to allow trading. As well assigning supervisor the rights to mange shifts. The CEO of this small non-profit organization would like to see when everyone is working, however all the leaders of each department approve or reject requests.

Because of COVID-19, we have to work in some form of shifts in indoor premises. Best would be self-organizing shifts so that team members can allocate by themselves their time on-site premises and let other also know it. A vote for letting team members to manage their own shifts in Shifts.

My team really likes shifts to be used as "Team Calendar" but the inability to allow non-owner to approve shifts is a challenge.

We prefer in most scenarios to NOT give owner rights to someone *just* so they can approve shifts. If we could set an "approver" role, that would be ideal. Thanks for considering.
Just bumping this to keep it trending. I honestly don't see the point of something like this, if all employees can't access it. My team know when they are working, they need to know when their colleagues are working. If that is implemented then I can see us using this in the long-term, but only if.

Another vote for team members managing their own shifts, as well as assigning supervisors to groups that aren't the "Team" owner. :)

Has Microsoft acknowledged this at all? It is a huge shortcoming. We are combining several existing SharePoint sites to a larger one with sub-sites and making everyone an owner will be hectic, however we operate on the basis that all staff manage their own time and work so completing your own Shifts is essential..
This would be really nice, cause otherwise we have to set a part of the team as owner of a team, for only managing the shift plan. For me this topic is related to security, as specially when you have big teams with different roles.
Can Members please have the Add Shift and Add Time off options available to them as owners do. We were using Shifts successfully but the teams from 4 offices have been combined into one MS Team and we now cannot all be owners as the limit has been exceeded. Thus members cannot all add shifts and see the whole team. This is to be used going forward as people will be wfh or in the office, working different hours and we need to know when they are contactable.

This tool is completely for teams that manage themselves. Please open different team member roles so we can adjust shifts ourselves and see when other people have their shifts.
I agree. My manager does not do the scheduling and cannot approve a shift without knowing if it has been covered. Need requests to come through the owner with the ability to escalate to the manager with comments for final approval. Not having that ability is holding me back from asking my employer to invest in the program
This is absolutely needed when returning to work after Covid-19 requires a shift system. We can't have managers approving people's schedules all the time. This wastes Manager's time and also delays team member's planning of their work efficiently since they won't know if they are allowed into the shift until the Manager checks the notification.
Making everybody team owners is not an option. We need a way to let team members select a shift from the open shifts themselves.
