Shifts - Let non owner manage shifts
Only team members with owner role are able to manage shifts.
Would be helpfull to define shifts manager seperate from their team role.
Shifts are also assigned by supervisors, which are only team member and assigning owner role is not desired.
We used Staffhub before with multiple people managing shifts.
After the forced migration to teams it became useless because this feature is not existing.
If you port an application to a new environment, please check first if all functionalities are available and working!

Having really now adopted Teams fully this is a real pain in the backside. We have really got people using Teams and Shifts but I now get too many complaints of people who change around their shifts without the ability for the Shifts manager to even be informed. This is not a good thing. Shifts go empty.

We're trying to adopt Teams and Shifts, but we have to use a separate Team just for Shifts due to this limitation. People need the ability to add shifts but not have full control of the Team! Too many Teams leads to confusion and fragmentation.

This would be incredibly helpful. And if you could set permissions so that people could add notes to their own shift without necessarily having the ability to edit other people's shifts. We use this for our construction company, and if our guys in the field could make notes within their shift if for example, they stayed longer than the planned time, or if they need to input additional information about the job. The details section having a character limit is also bad for us, if that could be removed or increased, that would be awesome!
Have anyone heard any comments about this?

This isn't a major roadblock as we're a small company, but it's definitely a concern for us as it adds more room for user error.
Having the ability to allow user managers to approve without being an owner would be ideal. This is a feature we're interested in using and this is going to slow down our adoption.

the mandatory move from staff hub where you can have different people managing the schedule into MS teams where anyone who needs to manage the schedule needs to also be an owner of the team is ridiculous. the people in MS who are in charge of these programs needs to use the programs in the real world before implementing any of these 'improvements'
Managers of a team may not be the person who manages the schedule of the shifts, a person who manages the schedule in an organisation would not have permissions or ownership of the whole team.
This is a showstopper. It's not at all clear when you set up shfits that anyone that is "allowed to schedule" a shift has to become a team owner. This is a HUGE roadblock that is keeping us from moving from Staffhub.
IF it's not fixed soon we're going to have to move from Staffhub to a third party competitive product rather than to Shifts.
This needs to be fixed, Microsoft.

It is stopping our full adoption of the Teams System for managing our resources.

In my organisation of 20,000 + employees, at an operational level with site engineers/supervisors on the ground, at the office level we need project managers and team leaders to have the access rights to assign shifts and request they go to a specific engineer via a specific manager, as mentioned below you can ONLY add a shift if you are a TEAM owner which we’re not prepared to do - this is the one and only thing that is stopping us from embracing this suite to the fullest, and since we’ve already started looking at it as a group... time is a key player in this - folks will start to lose interest and will always have that negative connotation leading to a lack of uptake and this has to be adopted across the board if it is going to succeed - Microsoft!! Pay attention to this one!!! Get it done yesterday!
We need to have a possibility for the team members to change shifts with each other, without any manager approving.
As it is now this is much more work for the manager than it should be, they have enough to do anyway.
This is a major point that is keeping our company from fully adopting this.
We have groups set up to reflect our departments. We need to assign the department head to a manager role, that can approve time off for the group (department) they are in charge of.
Would also love the ability to alert HR upon approval, with a TEAMS notification.
I agree this should be changed, shifts is great but just needs a few tweaks to make it work even better, this being one of them
Yes, annoying that folks cannot update their own shifts and we need to give them admin rights on the Team.
There needs to be a "Manager" role. Ideally this should be specific to the Group. That way multiple managers on the same team could manage the schedules for the specific group of employees they oversee.
This is a showstopper for us I think.
We need the ability for people to be able to edit their own shifts, but at present that means that they have to become the owner of the entire team. In that case they can remove users (including the manager), approve their own time off, or even delete the team entirely.
Ideally we would need more granular permissions for members, even if it's just a simple "Member can add / edit own shifts - Yes/No".
Also would add the ability to make approvals of shift offers and swaps non-mandatory - so owners do not need to approve every shift offer and swap.
In StaffHub you could assign admin permissions, within Shifts you have to make them an Admin of the host TEAM which is not practical
