Live Events Mute/Unmute Participants for Q&A
Allow the producer to unmute/mute participants if they ask a question. So the experience could be, a person asks a question in Live Events, the Producer selects them and announces "We have a question from Bob" and then unmutes Bob and allows Bob to verbally ask his question.

Thanks for your feedback. Mute/unmute participants for Q&A is on the backlog for Live Events. We’ll update you when we have more details.

As much as I really like the idea, I have noticed a sizable delay (sometimes 45 seconds) in what is being presented to when the attendee's see it... this would make a live voice Q&A extremely difficult IMO

This would THE option to have for a Town Hall where we want participants to speak up. I hope Microsoft will add this option very soon. Webex Event has this option btw

This should also be a feature for regular 'Meet Now' meetings, so that the presenter/teacher can easily mute/unmute attendees/students.

Microsoft should allow Live Event producers to add a start screen or splash screen option that would display a personalized message that attendees would see before the event actually goes live. The only way I have found to display a pre-event message is to start the event with a shared window displaying the file you want to be seen. The issue with this is that since the event is live you have to make sure the presenters and producers are all muted or you stand a chance of what they are saying unintentionally coming through.

The lag would add a serious delay which would make this very clunky.
Perhaps those seeking this would find it more helpful to have this facility added to a regular meeting with the organiser(s) having on/off control of each attendee's microphone and camera, with the attendee being able to block them being turned on, but not block them being turned off.

This last comment was dated LAST Dec... are you any closer to making this improvement ? The Puyallup School District is using TEAMS this fall and as a preschool teacher... I NEED to be able to "unmute" specific students to speak. I also NEED to mute them, as they log on from daycares, noisy homes, and will constantly talk... PLEASE provide us with the option to "unmute" specific participants, as the presenter. It is critical to our success with TEAMS.

I am a first grade teacher teaching virtual. Please, please, please allow the presenter to unmute students. One of my first graders is practically in tears trying to unmute himself. Thank you!

The mute/unmute feature us essential to the functionality of Teams in the classroom. This would be a HUGELY helpful feature along with private chat options to redirect kids privately to preserve dignity and multiple hosts or organizers! Thank you!!

I am currently a teacher doing virtually learning and it would be very helpful to be able to unmute a student so they are able to talk. Navigating through TEAMS can be difficult with a student who has a learning disability. One suggestion would be participant would have to use the raise hand function first to be able to be unmuted.

Distance learning model for our school started yesterday. This is a BIG thing that could help K-6 teachers since they can mute stray microphones but not then unmute them, and younger children aren't good with unmuting themselves.

Yes! Please make the unmute option for the presenter! This is a game changer for educators when teaching little ones who's parents are not able to sit with them throughout the entire session.

This would be really useful! Would help to get closer to feature parity with Zoom.

Time delay makes this one a bit odd... Keep in mind there is 10-20 seconds delay at best and even more if people are on timeshift.
Now having the possibility, as producer to unmute presenters would be a game changer, like an audio engineer managing his mics -

This would be fantastic! It would really make our participants feel like they are involved if they can voice their questions rather than typing them into the Q&A section.

It's very difficult for children to figure out how to unmute their microphone.

Participants/speakers can join via teams LIVE application or via regular phone (to join the team live call) by dialing the number. As a producer I am not able to unmute the participant and hope they are working on this as everyone else mentioned below. If the participant joins via audio by manually dialing the number and let's say I mute the participant, please be careful and tell participant they can mute and unmute themselves by pressing *6
Also, to join external participants, I had to create a teams group > add the external people to the teams group > then create the teams live invite > The participant joins the link > goes through the process of Microsoft Authenticator using their own company authentication and then a second authentication from the company that is sending the invite > do several test sessions. This process is not smooth at the beginning. Also, some external users may have an Alias email on top of their main email. Main email and Alias email should be added to the teams group and the teams live invite as well. Trying this the first time with an external participant is not smooth at all so the lesson here is test test test and start the teams live with external participants at least 1 hour in advance to work through any issues. Although not technically confirmed as the solution (still working on this), closing the teams application and restarting it and/or rebooting the pc it helped. Cheers.
