Move or turn-off selfview in a Teams Meetings
The self view is always static in the bottom right-hand corner of a Teams meeting. This is often distracting and can also get in the way of the screenshare.
-Add option to toggle off/on self-view
-Add option to move self-view to other locations on the screen
Thank you for your feedback. This feature is on the teams backlog. We will share an update as soon as one is available.
This is a big turn off for me
I do not know any other platform that does not provide this...
It is annoying and it blocks the view of participants in the meeting.
How has this not been done yet? Such a simple feature that would save so much pain for a lot of users.
This may have already been mentioned but a recent Stanford study on video conference fatigue highlighted self view as a huge contributor to cognitive load: https://tmb.apaopen.org/pub/nonverbal-overload/release/1
We have both Teams and Zoom at my work and many prefer Zoom as it has the feature to disable this view.
Yeah, this is really needed.
Who wants/needs to stare at themselves all the time, or lose the screen space / processing resources to see unnecessary data?
The SELFVIEW blocks bottom right corner of screen. If someone else shares screen, and I requested control, this box blocks me from seeing the Zoom +/- slider button for Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and other buttons on CAD programs. It is such a pain, and can't understand why we would put something to block the screen.
For folx with body dysmorphia struggles the self view camera can be a lot more than a distraction. It can be a trigger for mental health issues like eating disorders, dissociative disorders and anxiety. Boosting the priority off this issue would show support for the mental health community but it would also show support for the queer community. Sometimes I am not able to muster the energy to match my outer appearance to my gender identity because of depression and disability. Being able to turn off the self view would allow me to be present in the moment and feel supported by my colleagues who recognize my accurate gender even when I am not fully prepared for our 8am Monday meeting. I know camera off is an option but thats also extremely impersonal and my chihuahua has become the team mascot so, you know, its complicated. What I am saying is that this camera view issue may seem small since the viewing box is small but like Pandora learned small boxes can conceal deep issues so please reprioritize this accordingly. Thank you
So this self view option is very distracting to me. I find it keeps drawing my eye to the corner where it is and makes it difficult to focus on the presentation that is occurring. I can understand the need for it when you are sharing your camera; but, when you aren't I don't need to see my image at all.
Please make it possible to enable/disable the self-view.

I believe this feature should be boosted in priority, please. I know many other people who also somewhere on the spectrum, and it most definitely is a distraction. We spend our time staring at the "reflection" instead of focusing on the speaker. You would find a very large, very grateful audience if you deliver this seemingly simple feature. I'm sure it's not terribly easy, but also not impossible.

Yep, this is a must have feature.

Yes please add, so annoying seeing yourself when you are not speaking. Ideally it would be great to be able to pin / Show video for only the person presenting / Speaking.
Please add this as a feature ZOOM has this and makes it so much enjoyable to not always see my face in the video
Agreed, would love to turn off my own video preview. It's too distracting. This would improve my quality of life a lot.
There needs to be a way to disable this or move it to another location on the screen. I'm tired of my own face getting in the way of what I'm supposed to be looking at. Thanks,
I feel it would be helpful to have the option to completely blur your video not just your background, for yourself but not others. This would allow for you to remember that you are still visible to others but not get distracted by the details of your appearance/background.
Cannot believe this is still not implemented! Even Zoom has it... So distracting to see yourself in the mirror all day long!
LITERALLY SAME!!!! BUT IM THE TEENAGE GIRL (MIDDLE-AGED MAN, BUT YOU GET THE POINT)!! IT IS EXCRUCIATING USING TEAMS.....I DREAD TEAMS....
I am father of a teenage girl with Eisoptrophobia viz., fear of mirrors. Same is fear is applicable when she sees her self video.
Her school uses microsoft teams for online classes. Her inability to attend classes in video mode imposes a great amount of stress and limitation on her.
Teachers have agreed that she can switch off the video during classes but that's not possible during exams when they have continuously see her on video. Inability switch off self-video is causing her panic and anxiety and many a time she is not able to attend / perform in the exam which is causing additional stress to my girl.
Since she doesn't have the choice to choose an alternative meeting platform for classes, she is forced to use microsoft teams. It has caused panic attacks, anxiety and depression and she is now under psychiatric treatment and the situation getting worse everyday.
The self view is extremely distracting. It's as if I'm looking in a mirror as I'm presenting. I've worked on Zoom and WebEx and there was an option to remove. It is already difficult to focus on these video mtgs all day. We need as few distractions as possible.
please add a hide self-view option! critical & urgent functionality

yes, please. Coming from other tools that allow self view to be turned off, this is really distracting. Also, given the mandatory device check screen when joining a meeting, it's a little unnecessary.
Narcissists, such as myself, have no problem seeing my handsome self all day. I even spotlight myself periodically during meetings and mute others because nobody in the meeting is as important as me. Please don’t remove this feature altogether. Is there a way I can make the video/picture of myself bigger?
