Delete files shared in chat
Files shared in Chat are stored to OneDrive, but there is no way to delete file from within Teams. When file is deleted from OneDrive, it is (of course) no longer available and the individual gets a "Sorry, we couldn't find you file" error.
I would like to remove the shared file entry from the Teams chat.

As an educator, I have found that MS Teams is largely intuitive and helpful. However, I am amazed that in programming so sophisticated a tool, you did not build in a capacity to remove accumulated files sitting in the share tray from former meetings or classes in my case. I have to wade through a clutter of old files to find what I need when negotiating hour long classes. In those with 25 teenagers at the other end, I do not bless the design limitations of MS Teams. Please consider an update that can solve this problem. A right click on the file and delete would be ideal... probably too much to ask!

Functionality to delete a file shared in an appointment that doesn't necessarily have a "Team" -

PLEASE!! We have so many of these as we've been learning to navigate the workflow for Teams. I don't necessarily understand why you wouldn't be able to delete that but can delete a file everywhere else!

The big issue in our company will be solved by the feature.
Problems :
The cloud recording file of Microsoft Teams is stored for 20 days. However, under the current specification, not only the person who opened a meeting and invited to the meeting, but also any chat participant who is not in the meeting. They can view the recording and download a recording file for 20 days. We often don't want any participants to view and download the recording file in a meeting. For example, a meeting by particular member in a chat room.Because of examples like this, Could you please implement to delete a file of Microsoft Teams in chat by the administrator or the meeting organizer?

Adding my voice. Consider adding an option to the ... menu for each file:
Delete... with a confirmation dialog:
[ Stop sharing this file here ] [ Remove this file from OneDrive ] [ Cancel ]
or
Show file location...

I have files when I share that I never opened and I don't want them there. How can I remove them? Some I haven't opened in 6 months.

Could you please add this feature? The workaround to delete files shared in chat is time consuming.

I am still so confused by the unhelpful attitude in answering such a basic operational procedure regarding Teams: How to delete a file once downloaded and used. We can’t all be like an old hoarder, refusing to throw out last month’s newspapers! Come on, Seattle, you must be smarter than this!

When you go back into the chat and delete the message from where the file was sent this does delete the file from Teams.
This is however a really tedious way of deleting files.Microsoft please implement a fix for this

The Files tab in some of my chats is getting so cluttered it's barely usable anymore. How is there not a delete option to remove files?

Very frustrating that this is not a default feature! This issue has been out there for 2 years. Why isn't Microsoft correcting this by now??

Please would you create an option for emptying the cache of shared files on Teams from within the app.
I am adding my voice to that of many people who are experiencing the same issue.
Problem:
When I go to share a file I have open on my desktop, sometimes I cannot do so. The 'tray' from which I should be able to select the item for presenting is full of old presentations and files that I may not have used for months making it hard to spot the one I want AND the one I want cannot be seen. As my entire job is about collaboration and I am working from home, my cache is heaving and not being able to share defeats the whole point of using Teams. Might as well email the presentation to all participants, ask them to open it and tell them when I am moving to the next page. Teams would be truly useful were it not for this particular issue. -

maybe the dumbest bug I've ever encountered on a Microsoft product. Basic. Obvious.
