Delete files shared in chat
Files shared in Chat are stored to OneDrive, but there is no way to delete file from within Teams. When file is deleted from OneDrive, it is (of course) no longer available and the individual gets a "Sorry, we couldn't find you file" error.
I would like to remove the shared file entry from the Teams chat.

If you accidently load the wrong file, it takes too long to delete it via OneDrive and so we need to be able to delete in teams and reload if needed...

Please add the feature to be able to delete a file within chat only so I don’t have to delete the whole conversation in order to delete the file. Thanks!

Yes, please allow delete from files tab. Scrolling back searching for a message somewhere up there is difficult and stupid. Let's do file management in the file tab.

Click the 3 dots > Edit the message > Edit the attachment > then you can delete it.

fully agree. we need the ability to delete a file from the chat. at minimum the author should have this ability. its causing a lot of user confusion and frustration.
I propose: 1) deleting from chat, remove from Chat only (including permissions). 2) Deleting from OneDrive deletes from both OneDrive and Chat.
How about giving us this feature in the next teams upgrade, please.

I'll pile on . This is a *dreadful* user experience and half-baked integration with sharepoint.
fix it. it is already causing confusing with people, as we're collaborating on a document, now i have two, and people are saying "which one"? It just slows us down!!

Please resolve this issue - it's frustrating to have a collaborative space that doesn't let you delete outdated information.

Very frustrating to have to go to One Drive and do this. Please just enable Delete within Teams.

I just found a different workaround for this. The delete option was not available to me but if I edited the chat where I shared the file, deleted the file and typed something random in it, hit save. The file was removed from the files Tab. Super messy!

I don't see the delete option in the shared file ellipsis either.

I don't see the delete option after hovering over the shared file ellipsis.... How can you delete a file that has been shared via chat?

If you go to the message where you shared the file in the chat and click on the ellipses menu and select "Delete", it will remove the file from the Files tab. However that doesn't remove the permissions from OneDrive so you'd still need to go there to remove the access.
I agree this process needs to be enhanced to make it easier to unshare a file that has been shared in a Chat.

Seriously? So now I have these files "forever" listed in a chat and can't delete?
I appreciate it is a complex system to develop but, even as a non-IT savvy person, "Delete" function is pretty standard/basic....
You kids at Microsoft might want to back off the caffeine a little.....

That is what happened!
I have a Word document in "Files" but when I click on it it says "Sorry, we couldn't find your file." and I can't delete it.
So, I guess, it lived at some point in OneDrive and got erased. And now, it is tuck in Teams Files and I can't get rid of it. Pretty annoying!
