Mark specific message in a chat for follow up / to-do list for myself
My Outlook inbox and sent folder were my to-do lists. In Teams I need the ability to mark a message as item that requires following up (either because I need to action or someone else needs to reply say). So that a side bar could show me at a glance those pending items. Without me having to trawl through all my chats to see if anything needs to be reviewed.

you could mark the conversation as unread (lame). you could also save the conversation so you could come back to it later. this is probably the closest we have right now but it isn't that easy or obvious that you still need to action something. having a channel or a folder or an app that shows you all of your flagged conversations would be really helpful.
Ditto...this is my first frustration with Teams...how do I set a reminder to come back to a conversation when I don't have time to do it immediately.

This is a much needed feature; in outlook I could easily convert an email into a task for follow-up. MS Teams needs a mechanism to mark a chat or conversation as an item that requires follow-up and easily convert the chat/conversation into a Task in an existing project.

Quite a valid point! Please make a note of it and give us an option of putting reminders for specific chats which are to be followed up later. You need to just link it with Tasks which is already there in Outlook. Please look into this. A comment from MS on providing a TAT for this would be appreciated.
I agree 100%. It’s the one big negative about Teams
