Please add an option to stop the emojis from moving. Or just remove the animations altogether.
It is madly distracting.
not only distracting. whenever is see the "thumbs up" animation my brain always recalls UHF:
In the setting is an option to remove the animations but you'll first have to restart teams. If that doesn't work, just use the regular unmoving emojis instead of the ones teams provides.

Hey, last poster, why don't you do a little reading first. This has been fixed. See the comment from July 21.
They just don't give a ****. Nearly two dozen requests pleading to remove these infantile emojis and nothing. Not even a reply. Christ.
It looks like there is a setting on the Teams application that addresses this now.

No, Stop, Put an option if u want animation or not MR. Microsoft
As was mentioned in another uservoice, this is an accessibility violation, and therefore a matter of serious concern for government users:
Understanding Success Criterion 2.2.2: Pause, Stop, Hide
Animated emojis are pretty distracting and come off as a little aggressive. I tried to end a message in a heart to signify "love you guys" to my team. Then the heart was beating, and that made the whole sentiment just feel really weird and over the top.
100% agree. Please stop this horror.
I'm not you commented
What's annoying is that you are all easily distracted by emojis. What a wimp.
Please do! Also on Skype while you are at it.

PLEASE do this.
1. This feature CAN NOT POSSIBLY be hard to implement.
2. It is SUPER ANNOYING.

I agree, animated emojis are revolting, please take this away
Yes please. Also as Sean Ellis said, please add (the simplest thing of all) the option to not translate plain text emojis into cartoons.

+1 on removing animations. These are challenging for everyone's focus and really problematic for people who have any kind of learning disability. It's extremely distracting!!
Either allow everyone to disable animation or don't do animation at all. It's very distracting, especially when trying to focus on reading a message in a professional business context.

Yes please remove the animations. It is highly unproffessional!
If I type ie. (y) i do not want an moving thumb. Now i do never send thumbs up in messages because it is so extremely annoying.
Sean Ellis is 100% correct - MS do exactly what Sean Ellis suggested.

This'll only get worse if the kids who're voting for custom animated emojis get their way.
I did just notice that the emoji animation stops when Teams no longer has focus, which is something at least.

Note: Google Chrome 74 now includes a "no animation" option. https://venturebeat.com/2019/04/23/google-chrome-74/
If browser companies recognise the distracting and annoying nature of animations, surely an office productivity tool should too.
