Cannot edit .doc and .xls files in Teams
In Microsoft Teams we are seeing a "Bad Request" whenever we try to edit a .doc or .xls file in Teams. This does not occur with .docx or .xlsx files.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Save a .doc file or .xls file to the "Files" tab in Teams
2. Navigate to "Files" tab in Teams
3. Select the menu > "Edit in Teams" on the .doc or .xls file
4. "Bad Request" message appears.
The file can be edited in Word without issue, but cannot be edited directly in Teams.
The user does not care about the extension. The extension is not displayed even in the initial settings of Windows. It's unfriendly considering usability.
microsoft sucks like nothing ever works. I have work to do but i just waned to put this out there.

Hi @Dave Z. I experienced the same thing. My use case: Migrated SharePoint 2013 site to Teams / SPO. Has about 150 xls, doc, and ppt files. I also got the "Bad Request" option, when attempted to open one of them in Teams. I had to open in SharePoint Online, which opened it in Read-Only mode. Had to find option to Convert. When converted, it left the old one. I'm going to need to write instructions for them OR convert all of these files. Would be great if the option to convert could be done in Teams WITH the option to delete the old file.
At the VERY LEAST...there should be a message other than "BAD REQUEST" to tell the user what is wrong....if you need .xlsx or .docx instead of .xls or .doc PLEASE TELL US!
