Lock the Video Spotlight
In Skype for Business hosted meetings, there is a feature called "Lock the Video Spotlight" that allows you to choose a video feed that's displayed to all participants. This feature does not appear to be in the Teams client today, and it doesn't appear on the Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams Capabilities Roadmap.
In some Teams meetings I want all my participants to just view one presenters video stream and not have the 4 participant split view. We need a way for the Teams meeting host to force their video to be prominent from the participants view.
Enabling a presenter to lock the video stream for all users who join a meeting, is planned.
Pinning participants is already available – this was tracked in https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/19512820

Can someone please provide an update on this? This feature is critical to how I use Teams on a daily basis to deliver product training.
When is this feature expected to be rolled out? In need of it ASAP!
I just need this particular feature. Then my weekly meeting can replace SFB by TEAMS completely.
Hi, please enable the option "Lock the Video Spotlight" for organizer to manage.

When will this feature roll out? We urgently need to be able to lock the video spotlight on the presenter, before we can stop using SfB

Fully agreed this is an urgent needed function especially important for education and meeting room.

When are we going to receive this update? It's, probably, the main issue we have as teachers using this microsoft teams.

There is a workaround for when you are the presenter and want to have your video large while other videos are small. I explain it in this article and video: https://www.thinkoutsidetheslide.com/use-this-hack-to-pin-your-own-video-large-in-a-microsoft-teams-or-zoom-meeting/. It involves turning your webcam off, and sharing your webcam by sharing the Camera app that shows your video feed. Teams make the shared app large for all participants so it gives all attendees a large video of you.
This is a basic feature. I don't understand why users have to ask for it.
Aren't you guys at Microsoft using Teams for your own communication?
It never happen to you that you need every participant to watch a specific person demonstrating something on screen? It is crazy that there is still no way to do this... Good that it's planned.
Let's see how many years it will take you to release one of the most basic features for a video conferencing software...

Good to read it is planned. Organiser must able to lock or pin own video - this feature is require for Educators as they schedule channel meetings and they are the only one in those meetings who are presenting. They must be able to lock their own video irrespective of whether they are sharing screen, powerpoint, whiteboard or just interacting with students using own video. It will also help that recording of such lecture goes in single screen of organiser not split in 4 or more screen.
Waiting for this feature

Alex, please do let us know when this is coming in. This is a key feature.

Is it still planned or just forgotten? It is not announced for the summer or early fall... Maybe you should update the status here?

This is a much needed feature as we want to use Teams live meetings during lessons so that students who are unable to physically attend our education setting can join the meeting. We want to be able to force the teacher video as the main focus (e.g. the teacher at the front of the room writing on the board) but also ensure this is what shows on the meeting recording as well (so students who couldn't attend can view again later). We need the recorded meeting to only show the 'video spotlight' that's selected by the teacher.
Same here - two of us would like to be on screen chatting but not have other participants appearing also as they're external guests simply viewing the content.
This would really bring Teams closed to perfect for us!
Update as soon as possible
As the host, I would like to the ability to pin a participant for all viewers (i.e. lock video stream) temporarily during a meeting. This would be especially useful in the education field.

Microsoft - WAY BEHIND when it comes to delivering a truly comprehensive webinar experience. WAY BEHIND. Taking far too long to listen to what the business community needs and then act. VERY POOR. Especially when you're meant to be a global leader in IT.
