Allow SIP Phone proxy registration
In other words, Allow me to use a normal SIP hard phone as the phone for a user, not a phone that has a teams client. We want to roll out hard phones to multiple users but not everyone needs a $300 phone with a teams client. Just a normal sip phone will work for most users.

Wondering with recent announcements, if this will include support for Paging and Multicast via the SIP handset.
Microsoft has just announced in a blog post that “Support for SIP phones will be available in the first half of 2021.”. It looks like any SIP based phone will be supported, the blog mentions “Cisco, Yealink, Polycom, and others”. It would be great to get an update on this matter.

Not having this functionality yet is such a disappointment.

To emphasize this point, there are a ton of perfectly good SIP phones out there. Teams merely needs to support SIP. It appears that the new "Teams compatible" phones from Yealink and Polycom are not SIP but conform to some Teams proprietary standard?
It would be such a terrible mistake to force businesses to buy new phones and more likely opt-out of teams. Microsoft was founded on "bring your own device, hope they didn't forget this!
We are using PolyCom VVX 201s and VVX 601s some success with Teams at least until somethin major changes.

Yes for this! It seems like a no-brainer to add SIP functionality, it would also solve many other questions and suggestions in this forum.

Phones are used primary in public location like floors often wall-mounted. huge device with touch screen is completely misplaced there. We need small phone with some short dials like Audiocodes 420.
