During the Team Tuesdays meetings, I cannot see the Chat icon
During the Team Tuesdays meetings, I cannot see the Chat icon on the top right of the Teams screen (see photo). This means that I cannot see any Chats, nor can I see anything the Presenter posts to the Chat (e.g., a link to further details on the Topic she's discussing).
I'm using Office 365 Teams - paid version.
Experiencing the same problem, seemingly randomly. The Meeting policy in Teams Admin (https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/policies/meetings) only has whether Chats are enabled or disabled (ours Enabled for global policy) there's no further customization in the admin center that would explain why this happens.
I have noticed it seems to happen with large meetings only, maybe over 100 connected and depends when you joined the meeting (early joiners see chat, late joiners don't)
Is this by design? There is no recorded Known issue for this. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/known-issues

I had the same issue yesterday. A meeting with about 230 attendees, and the chat icon did not appear among meeting tools. Camera->mic->Display sharing icon->triple dots->attendee list icon->Request control->hang up, these were the choices that appeared for me. There were attendees for whom the chat icon did appear, and they used the chat functionality in the meeting. I don't know how many others did not get the chat icon.
Had this issue on a Team call today where we had 87 people on the call. Some had access the chat function and others didn't.
Is there a simple answer re different organisations joining the call or different functions being available on different devices? Or is this a "proper" bug?
Same problem: paid version, in the application, 20 users out of 80 had no access to the chat.
Today a handful of 75 meeting participants had no chat button in the meeting, and therefor missed out on sharing questions and discussions.
Is there a solution on the way or some adjustments to do (log out, log in etc.)?

Have same issue here in our 30 people meeting, but it's normal in a small meeting. Please could this be resolved or any suggestions can be given.
Is the chat limited to 100 users in online meetings? Like group chats?

Same issue - large team meeting, I can't see chat function but others definitely can
Same issue here in a larger meeting. Service failure?

I have had the same issue, the chat window for participating in the meeting was not available and I could not see the discussions at the same time as the video meeting. Others could as there was questions being asked during the meeting.

Using Teams application: no chat during Azure training. Using web-based Teams: chat capability appears. Other users shared screenshots showing the "Show Conversation" button in toolbar. This button does not appear in my toolbar.
I'm having the same problem. Yesterday, same setup, I could display chat but today I can't. Others in the meeting can.

Go to calendar, click the meeting, join the meeting.
Move mouse over main meeting screen, bar pops up. No chat tab available. Click "...", no chat tab available.
Go back to calendar screen, click meeting, click "Chat with participants", error message "Chat isn't available. Sorry, chat is unavailable until you join the meeting"
I had the same problem today. I was in a Teams meeting that had 206 participants. Some of them had a possibility to chat but I did not see the chat icon. When I tried to press in the Meetings-tab "Chat with participants" I got a popup that said: Chat isn't available Sorry, chat is unavailable until you join the meeting". I tried to join again from Outlook calendar meeting, Teams Meetings-tab with a link Join Microsoft Teams meeting and also from Join-button. All gave the same info and I did not have possibility to use chat.
I am using latest Teams client. When I tried to check for updates, there was info "You've got the latest updates. Enjoy!"
