Today I ran a meeting that included a colleague who it 85% deaf. When we have in-person meetings he can lip-read but this is too difficult on screen.
It would be fantastic if live speech captions were available and they'd make a huge difference to their working life and others with similar requirements.
We are excited to announce the meeting live transcript feature is in the process of rolling out to the public, and will be rolled out 100% by the end of March 2021. Users will have a transcirption to follow along with who said what, and for the transcript file to be viewed after the meeting. This is available for users with E3, E5, Business Standard and Business Preium license SKUs.
For the initial release, Live Transcription is currently available:
For scheduled meetings
In U.S. English (spoken language)
On the installed desktop version of Teams
In GCC, but without speaker identification

Nice feature, saves a lot of work compared to manually taking notes! If only this could be activated as a setting for individual meetings in advance (as supposed to by admin for all meetings like recordings).
Also when opening the transcript in a calendar entry, the black text in dark mode is not visible ;) only when hovering it is black text on bright background. Please fix this!
A search bar inside the transcript window instead of downloading it would also be super useful, imagine?!
Extending live transcriptions to Teams channel meetings will greatly enhance accessibility for channel meetings. Having the transcript available after the channel meeting, much like normal scheduled meetings, should also be prioritized.
Suddenly stopped this feature on A3 license. Don't know why no available to Education A3 license for live transcription feature.
To improve accessibility, this needs to be available for the free version of Teams as well

Do you plan on adjusting the live transcription for everyone to be able to view it at once? Having it view for only one user doesn't truly take into account accessibility for all on the same Teams call.

Thank you this is a great feature. I would really love for this to be in channel meetings too as this is where we run most of our corporate meetings which have the biggest requirement for recording of minutes by transcript

Live transcription with speaker attribution now available in Teams meetings for English (US)

It will be nice if the transcript will be offert in french
It's very disappointing that the Feature will only be available in English. I imagine that the support of other languages will take just a few years (like with the support for Closed Captioning).
Hi, the Captions are GREAT! but we really need a scrollable caption/transcript window without the need to record the meeting, like the Zoom offering. Often the text scrolls off screen to quickly to keep up; or MI corrections change it as it scrolls. A separate popout scrollable window would allow us to see what has been said a minute ago. Allowing us deaf workers a chance to review and make sense of the odd things transcript reports people as saying :)

SVP, inclure la langue française.
Polite cough! Any update on this. I have a student with a hearing impairment who struggles to keep up with captions or subtitles (teams and PowerPoint). A full running transcript of a teams meeting would be great.
thanks to add french translation !
Please add French, it is very important for the hard of hearing persons.
@Alex - can we get an updaet on this please...the link your previously posted in your 'working on it' update is now broken so I can't find out what was planned.
We used to save Teams recordings to Stream, and the recordings did have transcripts and Closed Captions (CC). Per https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/tmr-meeting-recording-change, after changing meeting recordings to save to OneDrive instead of Stream, there are some limitations including transcripts and CC will only be in English and won't be able to edit or search transcripts. To me that implies that there would be English transcripts and CC but wouldn't be able to edit or search the transcripts. We switched to saving recordings to OneDrive and found that transcripts and CC are not available. It's very annoying that documentation doesn't match what is released. I don't want to communicate to all our staff that we are changing the setting back to save to Stream instead, but we may have to since transcripts and CC are required. Please add the transcript and CC functions to recordings saved to OneDrive.

J'ai réussi malgré moi à avoir des transcriptions en Français mais cela ne fonctionne plus. Quelqu'un peut m'aider à restorer l'option ?
feels like a no-brainer and a real frustration to be missing
La langue des signes!
