Lite UI mode for Teams
It would be great if Teams had a lite UI Mode where all (most of) the beauty is switched off to favor performance and minimize resource needs.
The current Teams App on Windows 10 needs a lot of performance to render and to run in general. I need my CPU and my RAM for my development work! Not to run a stupid chat client!
Skype for Business was much reasonable in its resource needs therefore I favor still that utility instead of Teams!
Teams is a resource hog because it does way too much. Breaking off Teams into a lightweight chat app would be really nice for devs and other users who care about resource management. How many email, calendar, word, etc. clients does one need?

It would be great to have chat only Teams lite version to access it in Airplane WiFi. Current Microsoft Teams application is not working on Airplane Wi-Fi connection.
I loved Skype for Business for the simplicity of just IM. If your just wanting something simple for instant messaging check out MS-TL in the app store https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/ms-tl/9p43cc7wsq8x
I think well worth the cost of a cup of coffee. Uses less resources too.
********. ... i was waiting for this for long time too... in Skype for business, we sued to chat in a small window and that app is really made for IM and calls and confs. but this teams has all in it and eating up the resources for useless things.. and its like a HUB for all O365 apps.. the users just need a replacement for SFB.. not just another app that have all.. really good if we can have a small UI for chatting and calling.. simple like that.
This Teams app is a system resource hog. A lighter version is required.

This should be seen similar to Skype for Business, its notification and focus on list of people, groups. it can have tabs to have more
make Teams lite version, this version takes more time to start and uses more memory

Teams is very heavy. Then Microsoft complains that people dont use some of their solutions...
The Team application take up so many resources it's crazy. You need like a 18 Gb 6 core processor laptop to multitask as I work in IT when you have teams running as an application. Why can't it be built in to Outlook like the program Sametime was with IBM notes.

This is closely related to the "Compact Mode" UI request, which argues for a compact, minimal UI mode. It's currently the #1 UI request, and the #3 request overall.
