When in a meeting, presenters can mute individuals or mute all, but unable to unmute!

Yes, I also want to do. My students have a disability, so they can't do mute-related operations immediately.

While this may sound like a good idea, there are unacceptable privacy implications of unmuting somebody without their knowledge or consent. That is true even if you are the person who muted them to begin with since they may have since noticed that they were muted and be relying on that level of privacy.

I muted a dial-in participant who was not using the Teams client the other day, then had to kick him out of the meeting and re-invite him as there was no way for me or him to unmute

I work with older adults and they say they can't hear but it is because everyone is unmuted...then I mute and talk and then a majority are unable to figure out how to unmute...if you are going to give us one choice then please give the other. I lose 2-5 mins every time while working for the older folks.

It would be also a nice way te resolve the issue by having an option for presenters to "Ask for unmute", which would trigger a popup on the attendee(s) screen e.g. "The presenter asks you to unmute your microphone" with the switch to unmute. The same would be useful for live events, if the producer would have the same option for the active/next presenter.

I also agree with chris... host should be able to allow/not allow participants to unmute themselves

By the way, you should add this feature on top of this. You should be able to unmute all with the option to allow participants to unmute themselves. if this isn't ticked, then participants won't be allowed to unmute themselves.
Thanks.

This would be very useful from a moderator standpoint.

Unable to unmute participants of a training for questions following the presentation. Very embarrasing.

My school had started online classes this month with 250 students in single session.
It was big mess since it is not easy to discipline all kids from talking and your app do not provide the option of Mute all participants and restrict them to unmute where only teacher can unmute Individual when they raise hands. Very sad with meet limitation

As a teacher of student with special needs I desperately need this feature. I currently must call parents during a class and have them unmute their child who is physically incapable of doing so.

As a teacher, this would be so helpful! It's especially difficult for younger students to figure out how to adjust their audio/video (let alone any other features). Ideally they would just need to show up, and the teacher/admin could manage everything.

This is important in classroom situations where a teacher wants to "unmute the class."

this is really important-- you sometimes need to mute an attendee due to background noise but it is a problem to not be able to unmute-- we need to be able to easily allow attendees to be released from muted purgatory
