Automatic recording meetings
If you know beforehand that a meeting should be recorded then it would be nice to have an option when scheduling the meeting to start recording automatically. This can help with not forgetting to start recording and save some time and effort not having to remember to do it manually.

Please offer the ability to allow the organizer to choose where the recording is stored (SharePoint, Stream, etc.) instead of storing it in the personal OneDrive for Business location of the first attendee to join the meeting. The current experience on is not useful for organizers.

This is going to cause some problems for some companies and states in the US and other locations globally where Privacy matters to people. Enabling this function automatically eliminates this opt-in for users, which as someone else mentioned below, is a violation of GDPR and potentially also for requirements in CA, NY, NV, ME, VA and likely others to come.

This feature absolutely HAS to be policy controlled. Otherwise there are many meetings for which we would not be able to allow Teams for.
Indeed, under GDPR and similar privacy rules, enabling recording without first gaining permission from all attendees would likely be breaking the law.
Because why take responsibility for starting a recording?
What is the roadmap number we can monitor for this feature?
Hi Alex, would you be able to clarify something please - will this feature be enabled by default to all org-wide meetings where recording is already enabled through PowerShell? Or will users have to schedule this in advance of the meeting individually for each meeting? I’m slightly confused!

We need this too - we are an educational establishment and need to be able to record for Safeguarding purposes - not controlled by the educator or the pupils.

I need automatic recording also. I always miss the first 5-10 minutes until I remember to call start.

I need automatic recording. I always forget to start the recording.
Problem: Often forget to record the meetings until I'm already 10 minutes through.
Solution: Have a pop up that asks if you'd like to record the meeting before you begin. Much like when you send an email and you've forgotten an attachment, a window pops up asking if you meant to attach anything.
We are looking for this as well as well as a way to insert 'consent to record' automatically in the meeting invitations.

yes please! I record meetings for the purposes of minute-taking, nearly gave myself a heart attack when I got half way through a meeting and hadn't hit record! The timer actually seemed to backdate itself when I did press start, but when the recording was delivered it only the second half :'-(

I would like to set automatic recording in the meeting invitation. We have meetings that we want to record and others that we don't. I think it would be good to allow a setting when creating the meeting invitation that asks/selects whether you want to record the meeting or not.
