I wish you can move folders within folder in file management :) Also, recent places would be very helpful.
Moving and copying folders in Teams (SPO Sites) is badly broken when using the SPO portal 'Move To' and 'Copy To' options. This article describes common issues and has a link mentioning data loss (files end up in SPO Site's Recycle Bin) and also sums up our experiences so far:
The process is clunky at best, and dangerous at worst, as files may be lost along the way, escecially if the move/copy crosses SPO Sites, e.g. between private & standard Teams channels, or between Teams.
I logged a call with Microsoft Support for this as I was struggling to believe that end users can't move/copy files without loss/failure/delay etc.
The outcome was that the support rep said that Microsoft don't recommend using the 'Move To' feature and we should use 'Copy To' instead, should only copy small no's of files and small data size, and once copied we should then check all files are present before deleting from source, including checking Site Settings>Storage Metrics to compare folder size usage.
Checking Storage Metrics is virtually pointless, as on that page it clearly states "Total size includes any versions and metadata associated with the file" which means copied data can't be compared as the source also includes versioning data and the destination doesn't, and the data can't even be relied upon as it also states "Data shown on this page may not be up-to-date, future visits to this page may contain more accurate results". HOW IS THAT PRACTICAL FOR END USERS? :-|
It's also unreliable regardless of whether few/many files, large/small files, Win10/Mac clients, high/low bandwidth etc.
Not to be able to easily move folders is a nonsense. Are you serious in your intention to develop this application? If so, this functionality is a must.
Sort of thing where, when you realise you can't do it, you stare in disbelief at your laptop for ten minutes and then have to go out for a long, long, walk to calm down.

Any news? Seems obvious and from a user perspective makes really no sence, that you'll have to open in SharePoint, to be able to move a folder.

This is a real problem as a channel develops. Scope expands but folder structure cannot be changed without starting from scratch again.

The move folders function works in the SharePoint view, shouldn't it be available in Teams as well?
yes, please. we can move files between channels or teams but not folders.
