Teams Presence should be 'real-time'.
Having presence delays of up to 4 minutes makes presence largely useless. Having to resort back to typing 'are you free now' after calls, because I can't tell if they are still in the meeting, or have started another meeting or call. Or trying to call somebody and get rejected and a message saying "I'm in a call"
A fix for this is being worked on. We hope to have a fix in internal Microsoft rings soon for testing. I don’t have a timeline for release externally at this point, but will keep you posted.

Skype for Business has this worked out. Why can Teams not be at least as good as Skype for business at this? Knowing that someone is active or inactive is hugely important. Knowing that they've been inactive for 10 minutes is different from knowing they've been inactive for 3 days. This is useful information when you're trying to get in touch with someone. Teams really needs to step up their game here and have real time presence information that is at least as good as Skype for Business.

I don't remember what it was before but it looks like the entry on the Microsoft Roadmap has it "Rolling Out" and has the Release as June CY2020.
18 Months later ... Was this deployed to the 'internal Microsoft rings' soon for testing? How did that go?
Will we see the fix publicly soon?

This is something I am eagerly awaiting for an update on.

I am curious as well. I know right now there are more important things but its been almost 18 months.

I'm curious as well. When are you releasing this? Almost a year and a half since "soon for testing" was stated above. Are there any timelines available yet?
last update was in 2018? when are you releasing this?
When is this coming out?
This needs to be improved, huge delays in status changes.
Are chats and communications in MS Teams supposed to be in real time? We may go 30 minutes to all day without seeing updates from team members.
I keep thinking I'll just move forward with getting rid of Skype in our environment and then I come across stuff like this. Why did they even bother with incorporating presence in the product if it doesn't function? I see it is scheduled for Q3 2019 release, so that means we'll see it sometime in 2021.
It's not clear at all why this delay even exists.
Looking forward, data from Outlook calendar appointments are well known at least 3-5 minutes prior to start time ( at least 99% of the time anyway )
Looking backward is so STUPID !

Any update, there is a lot of other duplicated posts on this topic

An additional problem is that with S4B every agenda appointment was changing the status of your presence to busy/call, but Teams only does this for actual started Teams meetings, all other appointments are simple neglected....

Is the announced fix this one that appeared on the roadmap recently: Microsoft Teams - Real Time Presence https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=52395 ?
Hi, has this been fixed yet? We are seeing upwards of a 10 min delay in presence when in Outlook, we have an appointment or meeting.
Any update to this?
What are the news about this fix ????
Sometime I have seen presence like "Yesterday" instead of Offline or Online etc.
Why is that?

Presence is not the real-time based in Teams app, Skype for business was accurate in terms of presence but MS Teams app has lot of discrepancy in showing the actual presence. Hope Microsoft team are working to resolve the issue soon.
